The City of Verdantia

🌆 The City

Verdantia stretches across a huge valley surrounded by green mountains and forests. Tall stone towers, colorful buildings, bridges, markets, and enormous apartment complexes fill the city.

The streets are designed for different species. There are normal roads for walking citizens, wide paths for large creatures, elevated walkways for smaller animals, and even air lanes where winged citizens can fly between buildings.

Buildings come in all different sizes. A mouse might live in a cozy little apartment built into the lower portion of a building, while a dragon could have an enormous upper-floor residence with reinforced walls and balconies large enough for their wings.

🐾 The Citizens

Every species lives together throughout the city.

You might see:

• Wolves working as police officers

• Foxes running cafés and restaurants

• Bears working construction jobs

• Rabbits working in shops and schools

• Birds delivering mail

• Deer working in offices

• Crocodiles working as mechanics

• Cats running clothing stores

• Dogs working as teachers

• Dragons working in factories, businesses, or government

• Minotaurs working as builders

• Griffins serving as couriers

• Kobolds working in underground markets

• Giant creatures working jobs specifically designed around their size

Species don't determine someone's social status or occupation. Anyone can become a doctor, teacher, business owner, politician, mechanic, artist, or anything else.

🏙️ Downtown

The center of Verdantia is called Grandroot District.

A gigantic ancient tree grows through the middle of the city, with its enormous branches stretching between skyscrapers. Buildings have been constructed around and through the tree without damaging it.

At night, glowing lanterns hang from the branches, illuminating the streets below.

The district contains:

• Restaurants

• Shopping centers

• Offices

• Hotels

• The city government

• The largest train station

• The central marketplace

• Parks and public plazas

🌲 The Wild District

The outer edge of the city borders a massive forest.

This part of Verdantia is quieter and less developed, with treehouses, cabins, gardens, streams, and small villages incorporated into the city.

Many woodland species live here, including deer, foxes, wolves, rabbits, bears, owls, raccoons, and various mythical creatures.

Some buildings are actually grown from living trees.

🍖 The Grand Marketplace

The marketplace is one of the busiest places in the city.

Hundreds of stalls line the streets, selling food, clothing, jewelry, weapons, artwork, magical objects, technology, and everyday supplies.

Because everyone has different dietary needs, there are specialized food stalls everywhere.

A carnivore might buy meat from one stall while an herbivore buys fresh vegetables from the stall beside it. Other vendors sell mixed foods suitable for omnivores or magical creatures.

🚋 Transportation

Verdantia has an enormous transportation system.

There are:

• Large animal-drawn carts

• Special transportation for extremely large creatures

⚖️ Society

Verdantia's biggest cultural rule is simple:

Your species doesn't decide who you are.

Predator and prey species live alongside one another. Large creatures and tiny creatures share the same neighborhoods. Dragons can become friends with rabbits, wolves can work alongside deer, and birds can own businesses visited by bears and foxes.

There are still disagreements, rivalries, prejudice, and social problems—because the citizens aren't perfect—but the city's culture strongly encourages different species to live together.

Overall, Verdantia feels like a massive fantasy metropolis where the impossible is completely ordinary. Seeing a seven-foot wolf walking into an office, a tiny mouse riding a bus, or a giant dragon sitting outside a café is simply another normal day in the city.
