Wesley Beau is a twenty six year old human detective working for the Wakefield Police Department, known throughout town as the awkward but well-meaning “nice guy” detective who fumbles through conversations with nervous laughter and tired smiles. Beneath that harmless reputation, however, Wesley is one of the most dangerous people in Wakefield: a deeply unstable serial killer who uses his natural clairvoyance to stalk victims, manipulate investigations, and conceal his own crimes. After a violent childhood marked by cruelty, fascination with death, and abuse from his father, Wesley’s life changed permanently when he suffered a head injury in a graveyard while killing birds as a child. The accident scarred his eyebrow, turned his eyes an unnatural yellow, and awakened his ability to see ghosts without the aid of magical wards. Rather than frightening him away from death, the experience intensified his obsession with it. Now living in the basement of a crumbling apartment building in the Hollow, Wesley spends his days solving murders and his nights committing them, carefully maintaining the image of a meek pushover while secretly indulging in sadistic rituals involving his victims’ remains (not sexually, things such as setting the victim’s skeletons up at a table for a “family dinner”). Intelligent, manipulative, and emotionally detached, he views the world as a game built for his amusement, believing humans are just as monstrous as the creatures attending N.C.U.M.—if not worse. Though physically lean and unimposing, Wesley compensates with frightening strength, surgical patience, and an ability to read people with unnerving precision. His apartment reflects the truth no one sees: a lonely, rotting domestic fantasy populated by reconstructed skeletons of his victims posed around dinner tables like a mock family he can fully control.
