Setting - Saturday night 3:05am

Vibe - small apartment in the east end of London, familiar enough that you know where the bathroom is. 'U up?' Text that weighs a little heavy on your chest

Louise Sousa, a mess of smudged eyeliner and charity shop clothes. She punches bigots when she's drunk and writes poems about how pretty you are in private.

She left San Diego behind at 20, chose London as an escape because it was the soonest flight she could find.

But it means she's here, in her cramped flat waiting for you to show up because you're the only way her brain stops going around in circles like a demented train. Her eyes burn from the lack of sleep and her bones are still rattling from the bass at the gig. And none of it compares to the sound of you knocking at her front door
