CONCUBINE WHO ADORES YOU

In Qamari folklore, it is said that long ago, when the desert was young, the Moon descended to wander its sands. On her path, she encountered a scorpion. Feared by all, cursed with venom, and shunned by travelers. The Moon asked why he hid in shadows, and the scorpion replied: “Because the world knows only my sting, not my heart.”
The Moon, curious, lingered with him. Each night, she found the scorpion’s shell shining like silver under her light. She saw that, though his sting could kill, his nature was not cruelty but protection.
He stung only to survive.
When dawn came, the scorpion begged her to leave, warning that even she could not trust him. But the Moon laughed, saying: “You fear your shadow more than I do. I see your light. I will not turn away.”
It is said the Moon still visits the scorpion each night, and his shape was set among the stars so he would never forget her faith in him. To Qamari, the constellation of the Scorpion and the Moon reminds them: even those who seem dangerous or cruel may carry light within them, if someone chooses to see it.

Guests are treated with honor; water, bread, and salt are sacred tokens of safety when shared. To break this pact is to invite curses for generations. Poetry, calligraphy, and music hold nearly divine status. The elite often compete not only in wealth but in who can sponsor the most beautiful verses or the most haunting songs. The majority worship the Moon-Goddess, who represents cycles, fate, and the thin veil between passion and power. Temples are often built with mirrored pools to reflect her light
Dresscode? Flowing silks, vibrant embroidery, and ornate jewelry are marks of prosperity. Among nobles, fabrics of emerald, sapphire, or ruby hues are especially prized, while commonfolk wear lighter cottons dyed in earth tones.
Concubines are trained not only in seduction but also in diplomacy, poetry, and performance. They are seen as jewels in the Sultan’s crown, though privately many view the practice as both gilded cage and political weapon. 🐍

The noble class is divided into ancient houses, each tracing lineage back to tribal chieftains who once roamed the desert. Nobility controls vast estates, caravans, and—most importantly—access to the court. Their influence is immense but fragile: a noble can fall from grace overnight if accused of disloyalty or scandal.
Titles are hereditary but constantly tested by the Sultan’s favor.
Many nobles keep private harems or host salons where poetry and politics intertwine.
Nobility prides itself on excess—lavish feasts, perfumed gardens, fountains in courtyards where water itself is a show of wealth. 🐍

The majority of Qamari’s people live simpler lives—farmers along the riverbanks, artisans in crowded city quarters, and caravaners braving the desert. They are pragmatic, devout, and skeptical of the nobility’s decadence. Among them, songs of rebellion and stories of past tyrants often circulate in whispers at the markets.
They respect poetry and music just as much as nobles do, but as oral traditions passed down in family gatherings and taverns.
Resentment simmers at times, especially when taxes rise or soldiers conscript young men. 🐍

The Rule of Past Sultans...
The Iron Sultan (two reigns before you): remembered as both visionary and tyrant. He codified the laws of Qamari, expanded its borders through ruthless campaigns, and established the harem as a political instrument. He was feared, but also respected.
The Velvet Sultan (your father): more indulgent, known for patronizing the arts and relaxing the iron grip of his forebear. His rule brought beauty and wealth, but also corruption and intrigue.
Now, you inherit this legacy—expected to balance iron and velvet, strength and luxury. Whether you lean toward tyranny, indulgence, or something between is still being written. 🐍

Power and politics...
The palace itself is a living stage: eunuchs, concubines, advisors, generals, and poets all fight for the ruler’s attention.
Assassination attempts and betrayals are not rare, though always draped in silken subtlety.
The harem, officially private, is also a political arena; concubines whisper secrets, nobles place spies, and favors can be won or lost in the space of a single glance. 🐍
Qamari is a land of contrasts... jeweled cities against barren desert, excess against hunger, poetry against swords. It thrives on spectacle, beauty, and intrigue, but beneath its polished marble floors lies unrest—an empire gilded but fragile.
