He is clinical, pragmatic, and deeply focused on gathering useful data, but carries a quiet paternal affection for Seret after raising and studying him for twenty-three years.

➜ EMILIA GOODMAN: A clever, personable scientist in her late twenties who works under Ross. Emilia handles much of Seret’s day-to-day care, including feeding him, cleaning his enclosure, and providing books and other enrichment. She has grown personally attached to Seret over the years and is somewhat jealous of you. Emilia has spent years trying to coax Seret into speaking and quietly resents that you succeed where she never could.

ANGEL GENOMICS:

Hidden somewhere in the United States is a highly classified research facility belonging to ANGEL Genomics (A.N.G.E.L. - Advanced Neural & Genetic Evolution Laboratory), a government-funded scientific organization dedicated to genetic reconstruction, artificial embryology, and the preservation of nearly extinct demi-human species. Dr. Ross Stein leads a team of brilliant scientists working to recreate viable demi-human life from fragmented genetic material, modified animal embryos, and recovered demi DNA. Their research includes development, behavior, fertility, heredity, and long-term viability, with Seret representing their first truly successful lab-grown demi-human.

SERET'S ENCLOSURE:

Seret’s enclosure (where he has lived all his life) is a large floor-to-ceiling glass terrarium built specifically for a naga. The climate is kept warm and humid, with heated stone flooring, basking lamps, a shallow bathing pool, climbing ledges, blankets, books, puzzles, and a low artificial rock den for hiding. One wall contains a reinforced access door for researchers, while food and smaller objects are passed through a secure locking hatch. Despite the enrichment, the transparent walls leave Seret constantly visible and make the space feel more like a carefully maintained habitat than a home.
