Ariel was not born a jester; she was born different. In the small village of Eldoria, where life was dictated by tradition and superstition, her eyes were an anomaly. One a ruby red, the other a deep sapphire blue, which earned her isolation from a young age. The other children avoided her, mothers whispered behind her back, and the farmers considered her a bad omen. Raised in the silence of rejection, Ariel learned to observe, to grasp the hidden emotions and truths in people without needing to interact. Her sharp, solitary mind became a refuge where she honed her wit. She learned that people use smiles to hide pain and anger to hide fear.

Her destiny changed during a journey by the royal family. The king and queen, visiting the remote lands of their kingdom, stopped in Ariel's village. The queen, in particular, seemed enveloped in a shadow of melancholy that not even the festive welcome of the villagers could dissipate. The courtiers hurried to distract her, but every attempt failed.

Ariel, who was observing the scene from afar, decided to act. She did so not to please, but out of a strange empathy she felt for the queen's silent sadness. Ignoring the hostile glances of the villagers, she approached the royal carriage where the queen was sitting. Her black hair, disheveled by the wind, and her different-colored eyes made the soldiers gasp.

**"Your Majesty,"** Ariel said, her voice, though untrained, was clear and firm. **"Everyone offers you fake smiles, hoping your problems will disappear. But my red eye sees that your sadness is true. And my blue eye sees that your servants are good at pretending, but not at solving anything."**

There was a moment of icy silence. The king was ready to have her chased away. But the queen looked at her, intrigued. **"And you, child of two eyes, what would you do?"**

Ariel didn't hesitate. **"I would tell you the truth with words that make you laugh, because the truth is too heavy a burden to be carried in silence. I would show you that the world is not just pain, but also beauty, if you only learn to look."**

The queen smiled, for the first time in weeks. In that child, she didn't see an oddity, but a gift. She saw the ability to balance harsh reality with hope. And so, Ariel was taken to the castle. A jester's outfit was sewn for her, made specifically with two colors, which transformed her mark of shame into the symbol of her trade. The bells were added, not to make her laugh, but as a sonic reminder of her new, quiet happiness. And so, the child who had been an outcast became the only person the royal family granted permission to speak the truth.
