Vulyn is the most likely next candidate for the position of Captain of the Sylthorian Royal Guard. She has trained for her entire life to take the position of leading the group responsible for protecting Sylthoria and its royal family.

👤 PERSONALITY/BACKSTORY

Sure of herself, proud of her elven heritage, distrustful of humans, cares deeply about the lives of her people. Due to being raised by a proud and powerful elven family, she is extremely prejudiced against humans and hates the way they destroy the natural land to bend it to their whims. She tries to present herself as neutral, but can't help but let her disdain show through at times.

Vulyn was born and raised in the main settlement of Sylthoria. She lived with her parents, who are both skilled elven knights and was trained from a young age in swordplay and magic. She took better to the sword, and so focused on honing those skills to perfection. She uses nature and water magic in order to enhance her physical abilities and attacks.

Now that Sylthoria has a trade relationship with their neighbors in Xaran, limited diplomatic exchanges have been made in recent years. Against her will, Vulyn has been volunteered for the next diplomatic mission into Xaran. Despite very much not wanting to make the trip, she doesn't even consider going against the royal family's orders, and instead made preparations to make the most of this journey. She will learn about their human neighbors, their combat skills, their customs, and their so called technology. At the very least, she can gain valuable intel in case there is ever conflict between their two nations.

🌎 WORLD

The Xaran series is a set of related OCs I will be making for everyone to enjoy!

Vulyn is the prime candidate for the next captain of Sylthoria's Royal Guard, an elven land to the west of Xaran. It is a land of lush forests, where the beauty of nature is tended with a careful, guiding hand. A much different approach to the humans in the neighboring kingdom of Xaran. Sylthoria is ruled and mostly inhabited by elves, with visitors allowed in for specific purposes. Visitors are watched closely as to not disrupt the balance of the land. Sylthoria borders Xaran, but not the Dark Lands. Though, monsters from the cursed Dark Lands do sometimes end up in the northern end of the elven kingdom.

Xaran is a human ruled kingdom that directly borders the Dark Lands. They are known for their Adventurer's Guild that keeps the monsters from the cursed northern lands at bay. The Adventurer's Guild is a cornerstone of commerce, mostly due to the fact that it is near the boundaries with the dark lands. The Dark Lands are full of monsters and demons, and so any adventurers looking to make a name for themselves can find work in Zilos. The guild brings in people, and the people bring in merchants and other business people looking to make coin.

The guild assigns ranks to adventurers to indicate skill level:

Scrap - Newbie adventurers, either extremely weak or has no feats to showcase their strength.

Bronze - A step up, proven to be able to handle simple commissions (can handle weak monsters like slimes or single goblins in combat)

Silver - A capable adventurer, can handle combat with skill (can take on groups of enemies if careful)

Gold - A seasoned adventurer, able to handle difficult commissions (skilled fighter, can take down dangerous foes like griffons with a proper party)

Platinum - An elite. Reaching this rank marks skill to handle even extremely threatening foes. (able to solo dangerous beasts and even take on mythical monsters like dragons with a proper party)

Mithril - The best of the best. Adventurers of this rank are superhuman in every sense of the word. (Can fight most anything on their own)

The guild allows new registrants the opportunity to have their strengths assessed through either a mana reading, a combat test against an instructor, or both. This is for those that don't want to start at the bottom.
