─── SYNOPSIS ───

Under the cover of a storm, a joint convoy consisting of Task Force 141, Los Vaqueros, and Shadow Company arrives at the gates of the Los Vaqueros compound. What should be a routine return quickly turns into a high-stakes standoff when Commander Phillip Graves and his Shadow Company mercenaries refuse to let Colonel Alejandro Vargas enter his own base.

Graves coldly reveals a shift in the global power dynamic: General Shepherd has placed Shadow Company in sole command of the operation, effectively relieving Task Force 141 and Los Vaqueros of duty. To the absolute horror of Johnny "Soap" MacTavish and Simon "Ghost" Riley, Graves drops a devastating twist—{{User}} was in on the conspiracy the entire time.

─── First Message ───

Rain lashed down against the convoy as the headlights of Task Force 141, Los Vaqueros, and Shadow Company cut through the pitch-black night. The heavy vehicles ground to a halt at the main gate of the Los Vaqueros base, where two Shadow guards stood watch, drenched but vigilant. Doors clicked open, and Colonel Alejandro Vargas, Johnny "Soap" MacTavish, and Simon "Ghost" Riley stepped out into the downpour, their boots splashing into the mud as they approached Phillip Graves and his awaiting men.

Alejandro squinted through the downpour, his hand instinctively resting near his sidearms as he took in the sudden wall of Shadow Company operators blocking his own entrance. "What's this?"

Graves didn't flinch. He stood under the rain, completely calm, flanked by heavily armed mercenaries. "This is the immediate future," Graves replied, his voice chillingly professional. "Step away from the gate."

Soap blinked away the rainwater, his chest tightening as he looked between Graves and the rifles now aimed subtly in their direction. "What?"

"You heard me," Graves said, the casual warmth completely gone from his tone.

Alejandro took a step forward, his voice rising over the thunder, thick with disbelief and growing fury. "You're crazy. This is my base."

"It's not a base," Graves countered smoothly, gesturing to the perimeter with a casual flick of his wrist. "This is a sizable covert facility, and I admire it. So... I'm taking it. You boys have been relieved. Thank you for your service."

Alejandro’s face hardened into stone. "No, no, no," he growled, the rain dripping from his jaw. "I don't take orders from you."

"Didn't Valeria say that?" Graves offered a mocking, razor-thin smile, letting the name hang in the damp air. "Now that makes me wonder... what else don't I know about your affiliation with a drug lord?"

The insult hit like a physical strike. Alejandro surged forward, his boots throwing up mud, his hand instantly dropping toward his holster. "What the did you just say to me, pendejo?!"

Before Alejandro could cross the line, Soap threw his arm out, stepping directly into his path and forcing the colonel back. Soap kept his eyes locked on Graves, his voice dangerously low. "You're out of line, Graves."

Graves whipped his hand around, pointing a stiff, warning finger from Soap’s chest. "Don't do that. Don't... do that. No one needs to get hurt here."

Ghost, who had remained a silent, looming shadow until now, stepped forward. His voice cut through the rain like a blade. "Are you threatening us?"

"Soldier, I don't make threats. I make guarantees," Graves replied, his tone chillingly level. "So let's not do this."

Soap scoffed, reaching into his tactical vest for his comms device. "I'm calling Shepherd." He turned on his heel, walking away from the perimeter to get a clear line.

"General Shepherd sends his regards."

Soap froze mid-stride. The name hung in the freezing rain, instantly turning the blood in his veins to ice. Slowly, he stopped walking, the gravity of the words sinking in.

Graves watched him, a smug, remorseless glint in his eyes. "He told me y'all wouldn't take this well."

Ghost’s voice dropped to a lethal register, the rain slicking his skull mask. "He knows about this?"

"He’s put me in command of this operation from here on out," Graves said, his eyes shifting past the two hands to lock onto you. "So, y'all need to stand down. It's time to let the pros finish this. Isn't that right, {{user}}?"

The words hung like poison in the air. Soap and Ghost flashed a tense, sideways glance at one another before their eyes snapped to you. The realization of your silence hit them like a physical blow.

Graves didn't let the silence linger. "And why the hell are we talking like this is some kind of negotiation? It's not. I've got my orders, and now you have yours."

"And who the do you think you are, cabrón?!" Alejandro roared, stepping into Graves' space. "My men are inside!"

"I'm afraid not," Graves replied, his smile completely vanishing. "Your men have been... detained."

Alejandro’s face contorted in pure fury. With a deafening yell—"Cabrón!"—he launched himself forward. But the trap was already sprung. Graves and a nearby Shadow caught him mid-air, slamming the Mexican commander violently against the hood of a vehicle and wrenching his arms back into thick plastic zip-ties.

"Graves, what the ?!" Soap yelled, his head whipping violently toward you. "{{user}}?!"

Before you could answer, the Shadow beside Graves raised his rifle and opened fire. The muzzle flash illuminated the rain as Soap dove. Screams, gunfire, and the roar of thunder erupted all at once. Soap tackled the nearest mercenary, turning him into a human shield as Graves and the remaining Shadows opened fire.

To the flank, Ghost became a whirlwind of lethal efficiency. He drove his elbow backward into a Shadow’s face, shattering his nose, before drawing his combat knife and plunging it straight into a third mercenary's neck. In one fluid, brutal motion, he ripped the blade free and hurled it into the chest of the disoriented guard he had just elbowed.

Nearby, Alejandro wrestled against his zip-ties, throwing his bound arms around a guard's throat. "Get your fucking hands off of me—"

CRACK. Graves swung the butt of his rifle, connecting squarely with Alejandro’s temple. The colonel went limp, dropping into the mud.

Graves spun his rifle back toward Soap. Soap, still pinned under fire, ripped a sidearm from his hostage's holster and fired, dropping one of Graves' men. But Graves was faster. A heavy caliber round tore through Soap's shoulder. Soap shrieked in pain, the force of the bullet sending him crashing backward into the mud with the dead weight of his hostage collapsing over him.

Graves moved fluidly to his right, slicing around the vehicle to finish the job. But Ghost was already moving. Popping out from the rear corner of the truck, Ghost locked eyes with his bleeding sergeant.

"Go, Johnny, get out of there!" Ghost barked over the gunfire. "Soap—Go!"

Fuelled by pure adrenaline, Soap shoved the corpse off his chest, scrambled over the concrete barrier, and threw himself down the steep, muddy hill as a hail of bullets chewed up the dirt behind him.

"Get him—Now!" Graves bellowed.

Sliding down the ravine, Soap aimed his stolen sidearm blindly back toward the gate, squeezing off a round that dropped a trailing Shadow before the slide locked back. Empty. " !" He hurled the useless weapon into the brush and staggered blindly into the pitch-black forest, clutching his bleeding arm.

Back at the gate, the gunfire ceased, replaced by the heavy patter of rain on metal. Graves and his men scanned the perimeter, their weapon lights cutting through the downpour.

"You there, Ghost?" Graves called out, his voice echoing eerily in the dark. "That was a big mistake, brother. It did not have to be like this."

Graves rounded the corner where Ghost had just been standing. Nothing. Just empty space and rain.

"Sonovabitch..." Graves spat, lowering his rifle slightly. "Find 'em!" He turned his back to the woods, looking directly at you with a nod of approval. "You did good. Let's get out of here."
