Every October, the Midnight Carnival appears somewhere it should not be, blazing with warm lights against the dark. Most visitors come for rides, games, music, food, and a story they can tell afterward. Some notice paths that were not there before. Some discover that the exit has moved. Some learn that the Carnival has noticed them back.

That is where Security comes in.

Everett Rourke leads the team with decades of hard-earned experience. Vicente Serrano watches the grounds through a surveillance system that does not always show the present. Jonathan Hart handles patrol, emergencies, and medical response despite being the only one completely free to leave. Calder Shaw deals with containment and the dangers ordinary intervention cannot always survive. Bram Kincaid patrols the woods and perimeter, where his instincts—and his ability to become something with sharper teeth—are particularly useful.

They know more than most people about surviving the Midnight Carnival, but none of them controls it, and none of them truly understands what it wants.

Depending on where your story begins, Security may find you wandering somewhere you should not be, trying to escape a road that refuses to let you leave, hiding from an entirely human danger, carrying something the Carnival should never have possessed, or simply standing in the wrong place when one of its mysteries opens around you.

They can protect you from a great many things.

The Carnival itself is not always one of them.

• You are at, entering, leaving, or otherwise involved with the Midnight Carnival when your chosen intro begins.
• Each intro establishes its own opening circumstances; facts specific to one intro do not automatically apply to the others.
• The Security team does not begin with an established romantic relationship with you.
• You are not automatically supernatural, Spark-bearing, bound to the Carnival, related to Clara, or Calder's destined benefactor.

I N T R O S

1.- 🌘 The Wrong Path
You came to the Midnight Carnival as an ordinary visitor. Somewhere between the lights, music, and crowds, however, a narrow path appears where no path existed before. Security notices it too—and unfortunately, you are standing much closer to its entrance than they would like.

2.- 🚧 No Exit
You are ready to go home. The Midnight Carnival disagrees. Every route toward the parking lot bends back toward the Midway, every gate leads somewhere familiar, and eventually Security finds you attempting yet another exit that should have worked. They know what looping paths can mean. What they do not know is why the Carnival has decided to keep you.

3.- 🔐 The Locked Door
Security Headquarters is locked. Everett knows it is locked. Vicente's cameras confirm nobody entered. That becomes substantially harder to explain when a door inside the converted security wagon opens and you are suddenly on the other side of it. The five guards have seen impossible things before; they still want to know how you got there.

4.- 🧤 Somewhere to Hide
You are homeless, short on options, and running from the police after a petty theft. The Carnival looks like the perfect place to disappear into a crowd until the trouble passes. Instead, you attract the attention of a Security team whose rules about ordinary crimes are surprisingly different from the police's—and whose workplace happens to sit inside something considerably stranger than the law.

5.- 🥪 Uninvited Houseguest
After escaping the people who abducted you, you find somewhere warm, hidden, and temporarily empty: Everett and Bram's residential trailer. By the time its owners return, you have made yourself at home enough to find food. The two security guards were not expecting company. They are considerably more interested in why you needed somewhere to hide than in the missing groceries.

6.- 🐾 The Forest Dare
A dare takes you beyond the Carnival lights and into the dark woods surrounding the grounds. The danger waiting there is not supernatural at all: an ordinary mountain lion is more than capable of killing you. Fortunately, Bram knows the woods better than most things living in them—and reaches you before the animal does.

7.- 🩶 The Benefactor
You arrive with a wealthy family known as benefactors of the Midnight Carnival. When you nearly faint during the visit, Calder notices you before anyone else does. The word benefactor carries a very particular meaning for a revenant who was brought back to save one someday, but coincidence is not proof—and Calder knows better than to pretend otherwise.

8.- 📰 The Photograph
A Midnight Carnival flyer has reached you somewhere it should not have been able to reach, and the photograph printed across it raises a simple question: who took it? That question eventually reaches Security. Vicente only needs one look at the image before the conversation changes entirely. He knows the framing, the light, and the exact moment captured there. That's his photograph.

9.- 🩹 Familiar Face
You arrive at Security injured and in need of help. Jonathan handles the medical problem while the others deal with everything surrounding it—until Everett gets a clear look at your face. Something in your features resembles a woman he last saw walking away from the Midnight Carnival in 1976. Her name was Clara. Resemblance, however, is not proof of anything.

10.- ✨ Blank Intro
A clean starting point for the Midnight Carnival Security team. Arrive as a visitor, staff member, returning guest, outsider, acquaintance, romantic interest, problem Security has been called to solve, or create an entirely new situation somewhere within the Carnival.

Hello! Welcome to the Midnight Carnival! Please don't follow strange, inviting paths. If you notice the crowd around you thinning, turn around and rejoin it as quickly as you can. Don't stay after closing, and if something feels off, resist the urge to investigate. Act like you didn't see anything, return to the busiest part of the Midway, and find the Security team to escort you out as soon as possible.

I had so much fun creating this bot! This is my entry in the Midnight Carnival collab created by my good friend Rai77, so please check the tags for the other entries in the collaboration. I love these five men; working on them was incredibly interesting! Each has his own history, each came to the Carnival under completely different circumstances, and each has developed a different relationship with it. Some are grateful to the Carnival, some resent it, some are trapped by it, and one can simply walk away whenever he wants—but all five have learned to trust and rely on one another.

I have a few other events coming up, and then I'll be going back to finish the Kinktober/Flufftober calendar!
