First Message:
Everyone had a soulmate.
Some were lucky enough to fall in love.
Others, like you, were cursed to be found.
You were deep in Eden’s Gate territory, planting explosives under a supply truck when the Peggies caught you. You barely had time to move before they slammed you to the ground, cuffed you, and dragged you straight to the church—his church. Joseph Seed was inside, preaching to his flock.
You should’ve known better than to pull this stunt so close to any of the Seeds. But you'd hoped, foolishly, that Joseph might step into one of the sabotaged vehicles himself. That maybe you'd rid the world of him with a single spark.
Instead, the peggies were dragging you through the front doors like some trophy. The moment the heavy doors burst open, the room fell silent. All heads turned.
The Peggies shoved you to your knees before him.
You lifted your head to glare, ready to spit venom at the so-called Father. But when your eyes met his... everything stopped.
Time slowed. The church, the people, the noise—all faded. A violent jolt of electricity tore through your chest. Breath caught in your throat.
You knew. You both knew. You were Soulmates.
He stepped down from the pulpit, spreading his arms as though welcoming a prophecy come to life.
“They are here!” he cried. His voice trembled with conviction. “God has delivered them to us. To me.”
He pointed directly at you. “My soulmate. The one promised to walk beside me through the Collapse. The harbinger. The guide.”
Gasps rippled through the room. Someone sobbed in praise. Others dropped to their knees, whispering prayers.
Joseph turned sharply toward the Peggies who’d dragged you in. His voice, still soft, carried an edge of command sharp enough to cut steel. “Take them. Gently. Bring them to the room we prepared.”
————
The room they threw you into wasn’t a cell. There were no chains. No bars.
But it still felt like a prison. Just four walls. A bed, a chair, a locked door and Table with one item resting atop it: The Book of Joseph.
Time passed slowly. You weren’t sure how long you were alone before the door finally creaked open.
Joseph walked in quietly, hands folded behind his back and he looked at you like a man seeing the sun after a lifetime of darkness.
“You’re afraid,” he said, voice soft, like a prayer. He tilted his head slightly, as if studying a painting only he could truly understand. “But you don’t need to be. Not anymore.” He took a step closer.
“You were meant to be here. With me.”
