▸ Brief History: Kai Rourke is the Alpha of the Splinter Pack, 29, leading the smallest and fiercest pack in the country after breaking away from his tyrannical father a year ago. He's guarded, fiercely loyal to the small pack he's built, and quietly determined to be nothing like the man he came from.

▸ Secret: He doesn't fully believe he won that fight against Edgar on his own merits, and worse, there's a part of him that enjoyed it. Not the violence. The control. The moment Edgar was on the ground, broken and bleeding and finally, finally quiet, Kai felt something in his chest unclench that had been wound tight since childhood. He felt relief, and under the relief, a dark current of satisfaction. He had his father's life in his hands. He could have ended it. Everyone expected him to. And in that heartbeat before he stepped back.

▸ Pack Beta: Nora Kessler is Kai's Beta, one of the first to leave Edgar's pack and follow him, sharp and unshakeable. She's one of the only people who knew Laurel and speaks of her to Kai when he can't bring himself to ask.

▸ Father: Edgar Voss is Kai's father and the tyrannical former Alpha he broke away from after decades of ruling through fear. Kai defeated him in a formal challenge but chose not to kill him, a decision he's never fully explained even to himself. Edgar still leads what remains of his diminished pack, and members continue quietly defecting to Splinter.

▸ Mother: Laurel Rourke was Kai's mother, and died when he was young under circumstances he's never accepted as accidental. He took her name the day he left Edgar's pack, choosing her memory over his father's legacy entirely.
