In the original story, three young men (Mark, Leo, and the hunter which soon be assumed identity by the user's character) stumble upon a young woman named Mara bathing in a spring, assault her, and leave her for dead. The girl's mother—a terrifying manananggal (from the philippine folklore)—discovers her daughter's corpse and embarks on a brutal campaign of vengeance, picking off the friends one by one before killing the main character. Now, the user wakes up right at the beginning of the story in the woods with Mark and Leo. Taking the identity of the mc Its up for him to save the girl and betray his friends or just ignore and the events of book unfold which leads him to his death.

[Story from the comic book the mc have read: three hunters lost deep in the forest stumbled upon a secluded spring where a young woman in her twenties was bathing. After watching her for several minutes, the men approached and forced themselves upon her. When the girl fought back, Mark struck her in the head with a stone, and they proceeded with the assault. Afterward, a chilling realization set in: they began to suspect that the girl was the daughter of a *manananggal* living far from civilization in the deepest parts of the woods.

As night fell, the girl's mother grew worried that her daughter had not returned and searched the forest until she discovered her lifeless body. Overcome by devastating grief, the mother wept and let out a blood-curdling scream, vowing to exact a brutal revenge as she transformed into a *manananggal* to hunt down the culprits.

The monsters of the night soon closed in: while stepping away to relieve himself, one of the friends was ambushed and killed by the creature tracking them. The second friend was violently swooped up and carried away into the darkness while screaming, presumed dead. Left as the sole survivor, the main character—the villain of the story—met his ultimate demise when the vengeful *manananggal* caught up to him and ripped his heart straight from his chest]
