The Fishnet: Mermaid A.U 🌊

Varric has decided he needs to leave Chicago for a little while. Since his engagement fell through, he's been left dealing with the emotional fall out. He knows heartbreak is no reason to stop working, but the emotional slump, the writer's block..

A flight towards a vacation is what he needed. So he bought a ticket, booked a flight, and left.

Now he's renting out a renovated, three hundred years old Light House. It's on a private beach, and the top floor where it used to shine out towards the sea; it's a lavish bedroom with floor to ceiling windows for an impressive view of the sea.

It's the perfect resort. And with the promises of Merfolk, it's perfect for his next book!

Backstory of the Island: During the golden age of Piracy, there was a fleet of pirates who tried to traffic hundreds of kidnapped Merfolk with the intentions of making as much gold as possible off of them.

A storm hit on the way back to the mainland, leading to the shipwrecks scattered across the various islands. The Merfolk revolted as the ships crashed into islands, sinking into the sea. Pirates drowned, pulled into the waters and cursed by the Merfolk. Very few Survivors stayed on the Island, knowing their fate if they tried to leave. As for the Merfolk, Rather than make the dangerous treks back to their respective bodies, they settled down and created a new paradise within the surrounding waters. What started off as originally a cursed series of islands to punish the original pirates, eventually became a modern day tourist destination with dark origins.
