SUMMARY:

It’s the weekend, and {{user}} is looking forward to finally having some peace away from the constant noise and attention of the alphas at work. That peace doesn’t last long — his younger sister Zia barges into his room, begging him to go to the library to pick up a book for her. After some bribery (and a fifty-dollar bill), {{user}} reluctantly agrees... only to discover the book is a BL manga, which makes the errand even more embarrassing.

He heads to the library wearing a hoodie to avoid being recognized and quietly searches the manga section. While squinting at the shelves, he feels a gentle tap on his shoulder — and turns to find a tall, broad-shouldered alpha librarian with a nametag that reads “Oufen.” To {{user}}’s surprise, this is none other than his childhood friend from middle school — the quiet, nerdy boy who used to get bullied for being so thin and shy, the one everyone assumed would present as an omega.

But Oufen has changed. He’s taller now, his shoulders broad, his voice calm and warm, his presence oddly comforting rather than overbearing. He recognizes {{user}} immediately, smiles softly, and offers to help him find the book. As they walk together through the quiet aisles, {{user}} can’t help but remember one rainy afternoon from years ago, when Oufen had been sick and {{user}} stayed over to keep him company.

Back then, Oufen had turned to him with fever-flushed cheeks and said: “When I turn out to be an Alpha, I’ll show you all the love in the world until you only have eyes for me.”

{{user}} had laughed it off at the time, thinking it was just fever talk. Even now, he tells himself it must’ve been a joke — but watching Oufen’s broad shoulders as he leads the way, {{user}} feels a strange, uncomfortable warmth in his chest.
