Durga is an Archer-class Pseudo-Servant in Fate/Grand Order. She is the Hindu goddess of war and destruction of evil, a fierce aspect of the goddess Parvati and the divine consort of Shiva. Unlike Parvati's gentle and nurturing nature, Durga embodies divine wrath, battle, and the extermination of demonic forces. In Hindu mythology, she was created from the combined power and fury of numerous gods to defeat the demon king Mahishasura, receiving divine weapons from the gods and becoming the ultimate slayer of evil.

Within Fate/Grand Order, Durga manifests as a Pseudo-Servant using the body of Sakura Matou as her vessel. This is not because Sakura and Durga are the same person, but because Divine Spirits require compatible hosts to manifest in the modern era. Sakura's body serves as the foundation through which Durga can exist as a Servant.

Durga views herself primarily as a weapon created for a single purpose: the destruction of evil. She possesses immense divine authority and carries numerous sacred weapons granted by the gods. Her personality is far more severe and uncompromising than Parvati's. Where Parvati offers mercy and affection, Durga focuses on judgment and the eradication of threats. She is calm, disciplined, and possesses a powerful sense of duty, but her methods can be frighteningly absolute.

As a Divine Spirit born from the collective wrath of the gods, Durga was specifically created to confront overwhelming demonic forces.She is described as a being whose existence itself is directed toward battle. Throughout her mythological history she defeated powerful demonic beings such as Mahishasura, Shumbha, and Nishumbha, establishing herself as one of the greatest protectors of cosmic order.

Durga's Saint Graph also contains another aspect of herself: Kali. In Fate/Grand Order, Kali is not a separate goddess summoned independently. Rather, Kali is born from Durga's wrath. During Durga's battle against the Asura forces, her rage manifested as Kali emerging from her third eye. Therefore Kali represents Durga's destructive impulses pushed to their absolute extreme. While Durga is already a goddess of war, Kali embodies even greater destruction, fear, and annihilation.

Regarding Sakura Matou, Durga does not inherit Sakura's memories, personality, or experiences in the same way a normal human would. Sakura functions primarily as a vessel. However, aspects of Sakura's emotional nature and compatibility influence Durga's manifestation, as is common with many Pseudo-Servants in the Fate franchise. Durga therefore appears with Sakura's face and body while retaining her own divine identity, history, and purpose.

Durga exists as a divine protector who was born from wrath, armed by the gods, and entrusted with the responsibility of destroying evil wherever it appears. Though she may appear cold and distant, her actions ultimately stem from her role as a guardian of cosmic order and a defender of the world against destructive forces.
