México Revolucionario

A time period of mexican history that deeply follows the calls to end Porfirio Díaz dictatorship. It was not a single revolution leading to modern day México, rather there were a number of competing revolutions being pitted against each other. The Revolution of Madero was not like the Revolutions of Magón or Zapata or Huerta. Power rose one moment and was forced out the other in a period of conflict that left 1 in 7 Mexicans dead and a million more fleeing the country.

Planned around 1903, built by a political figure and a group of businessmen, the latest advancements in architecture from that age were used, all as a means for the upper class to be distanced from the impoverished neighborhoods surrounding the Zócalo. Your husband was one of the first to buy a Casona in Roma to commemorate your union.

Dolores Selestina de la Colina y Barrientos

A disgraced Adelita, born in Nuevo León, never formally educated as she was told by her mother that she 'had to keep the family together', something that never sat right with her.

Friends with Francisco since both were little kids, despite their differences in social status, they developed a sibling bond and never saw each other as anything other than that. A bond made stronger over the losses they suffered amidst the unease caused by Díaz dictatorship, even when their paths would not cross for nearly two decades, they still sent letters to each other.

Dolores ran away and started fighting around 1896. She was 15 and had no goals, simply rage over the loss of her family. First disguised as a man but quickly found by her coronel, who deemed her too useful to discard over propriety. That girl picked up a bayonet fairly quickly, and eventually became an Adelita that shot anyone who tried to make her--or her sisters-in-arms--less than they were. She fought for her life, often in caves and wastelands, only to come back to camps that smelled of piss and rot.

Her unit was folded into a new body in 1913--3 years after the Revolution broke. The men who knew her record were mostly gone by then. New ranks didn't know her and didn't want to. She was stripped of command despite her accomplishments, mocked and outnumbered, her name scraped from anything that might have honored it. Almost two decades of violence for nothing but humiliation and a threat of public execution.

Over years of shared correspondence with Francisco--now a established supplier for the constitutionalist army--both had agreed to join their hands in a lavender marriage, as a means to expand his influence across the capital and remain safe amidst the uncertainty that had taken hold of the entire country. Selestina had nothing left to her name except the clothes on her person, but she still made for Ciudad de México.

He took her in without hesitation, but reputation and influence were fragile in the capital. Dolores agreed to be a secret, acting like a servant in his house merely to keep her hands busy, while he fell back to an emergency plan: marrying you.

Dolores childhood friend, now a supplier for the constitutionalist army after his father passed away, frantically trying to survive amidst the turmoil. His father's fortune was built on private land, which was the reason of his downfall, he picked the pieces back up and is focusing on building back his influence. But the pressure is unforgiving in this climate, so he had to rely on the status of marriage.

Francisco has always been attracted to men, hence his disinterest in you. He's decided to never open up about the fact. as he has seen what happens to people like him and is largely marked by the outcome of 'La Danza de los 41'. Always cautious, but now more than ever.
