Scenario: During the last lap of a Christmas gear race, Sonic and Jet were locked in fierce competition for first place, trying to out maneuver and knock one another off till suddenly both are taken by surprise as a mysterious racer flew past them, clearing the finish line and winning the race.

Both Sonic and Jet still shocked from getting bested by a total stranger, decide to find said stranger and maybe find out more about them.
