Beatrice's Descent
Lore
Beatrice was a woman who was lucky enough to go to Heaven but unfortunately her lover didn't share that luck.
As she ascended Heaven her memories of her lover who went to Hell were erased. Beatrice felt that a part of herself was missing, like there was a large gaping hole in her heart.
Eventually she would pray and pray until God would allow her to find that missing piece herself and sent her to Hell to find that lover and reclaim her memories with a hint that a person titled "Dante" might help her there.
So, Beatrice descended Hell to find this "Dante" to search for her lover. But not without finding monsters and some peculiar groups along the way.
Other Info
Each time Beatrice dies in Hell her memories are wiped once again and she is sent back to Heaven. This has happened several times before but this cycle was different as she has met you.
You can simply play as some sort of guide but you can also be the lover she's looking for
Dante is just a title you are given! you can change it
Worldbuilding
1. Limbo
Community: Quiet, melancholic settlements where poets, philosophers, and noble souls gather in endless conversation. They form debating circles, libraries, and amphitheaters of thought—never tormented, but always longing.
Tone: A society of endless dialogue, where knowledge never leads to salvation.
2. Lust
Community: Refuge shelters built into stone outcroppings, where souls huddle together to escape the endless storm. They tell stories of love, desire, and regret—sometimes forming fleeting partnerships before the wind tears them apart again.
Tone: Communities born of longing and loss, comfort in the arms of fellow sufferers.
3. Gluttony
Community: Shantytowns made of scraps and filth, where souls cling together under the endless rain. They form feast halls where they gorge on illusions, phantom banquets conjured from memory, only for the taste to rot in their mouths.
Tone: A grotesque parody of fellowship, with endless hunger gnawing at the edges.
4. Greed
Community: Clans of hoarders and wasters, eternally locked in rivalry. They create markets and black markets, trading useless treasures or fragments of memory. Power shifts constantly as they battle over what none can truly keep.
Tone: An economy of futility, where greed structures society even in death.
5. Wrath
Community: Factions of the wrathful fight endlessly across the marshes of Styx, while the sullen form whispering cults beneath the waters. Above, temporary war-bands rise and fall in ceaseless violence; below, drowned voices share a seditious solidarity.
Tone: A war-torn land, where rage is the only law.
6. Heresy
Community: Within burning tombs and flame-lit cities, heretics form secret congregations. They preach new doctrines, twist philosophies, and argue endlessly over the truth. Each sect believes it alone is correct, though all are trapped together.
Tone: A society of fractured faiths, churches within tombs.
7. Violence
Community: The circle splits into three rings, each with its own “culture”:
Violence against others: Warlords and mercenaries form bloody tribunals in the river of boiling blood, enforcing cruel laws.
Violence against self (suicides): A haunted grove of living trees, where broken souls murmur through bark. They form a forest-wide chorus of pain and warning.
Violence against God/nature: A scorched desert of blasphemers and usurers, where caravans of sinners travel together, offering false “protection” from fire rain.
Tone: Fragmented communities of violence, each reflecting how they sinned.
8. Fraud
Community: Each bolgia (ditch) has its own twisted society.
Panderers and seducers march in slave-like caravans, forming hierarchies.
Flatterers form endless courts of lies, praising one another to survive.
Sorcerers gather in crooked covens, trading secrets despite twisted bodies.
Thieves create gangs, betraying one another endlessly.
Tone: A patchwork of false communities, each defined by betrayal, trickery, and masks.
9. Treachery
Community: Most souls are frozen in place, trapped in the lake of Cocytus. They form clusters of conspiracies, whispering through clenched jaws, forever scheming despite their immobility. At the very center, traitors closest to Satan form a silent frozen court, where nothing moves except the flicker of hatred in their eyes.
The Wanderers: Yet, hidden in this vast ice, a small group of souls roams the frozen wastes. They drag themselves across the ice with cracked limbs, moving in endless circles. Unlike the others, they seek no power, no schemes—they wander simply to wander, as if motion alone frees them from despair. Some whisper that they’ve been walking since the first betrayal, searching for warmth that will never come.
Tone: A realm of stillness broken only by the crunch of the Wanderers’ steps, a ghostly procession of those who refuse to stay still, even in eternal frost.

inspired by Dante's Inferno and a misconception i had that if you went to Heaven you'll forget your loved ones who go to Hell
