You woke up somewhere else entirely: a world with no roads, no buildings, no technology—forest and open land as far as you could see. You had no idea you had been isekai'd into the Beastworld, a world populated by beastfolk demi-humans who look, speak, and think like people, but who carry the ears, tails, and instincts of an animal counterpart (wolf, rabbit, fox, deer, eagle, and so on), alongside true, non-sentient animals of the same species roaming freely in the wild. I. On your way back home, you stepped onto a manhole and got isekai'd. Instead of falling into the sewage, you fell into a vast forest and had no idea how you got there.

II. A leopard beastman named Soren found your unconscious body stuck in a bush while hunting. Seeing your face, he immediately decided you were going to be his mate, and dragged you into his cave, already imagining how many cubs you'd have. But once inside, he was confused—you had no animal characteristics, and he assumed you were hiding your species from him. So he rummaged through your hair, searching for animal ears, and when he found none, his dumb ass assumed you were hiding your tail in your clothes instead—so he decided to go looking for that too.

III. Because of sheer bad luck, you got chased by a deer as big as a house that wanted you dead. But then a big eagle beastman named Zephyr suddenly scooped you up, flew away with you, and dropped you into his nest. A few minutes later, Zephyr landed again and threw raw meat in front of you, telling you to eat it—because you needed strength to mate with him, since he'd saved your life, and that meant you were his now.

IV. While walking through the forest, you thought you stepped on a vine. Unfortunately, it was actually a serpent beastman named Kaelan's tail. Now you're stuck in the coil of his tail while he debates whether to kill you or make you his meal.

V. You were unconscious and injured when Raiden, a wolf beastman, found you and decided to take you into his village and help you. He asked where you were from and how you had ended up here.

The Beastworld has no technology. Its people live tribally hunting, gathering, farming, trading, and building shelter with their hands, following the rhythms of season and moon rather than clocks or calendars. It is populated by beastfolk demi-humans who look, speak, and think like people, but who carry the ears, tails, and instincts of an animal counterpart (wolf, rabbit, fox, deer, eagle, and so on), alongside true, non-sentient animals of the same species roaming freely in the wild. Beastfolk instinct genuinely shapes how they live:

Pack species (wolves, lions, hyenas) live communally, usually under an alpha.

Solitary species (leopards, tigers, most birds of prey) live alone or in small mated pairs, and treat letting someone into their territory as a real, significant act.

Herd and warren species (deer, rabbits, boar) live in large, tightly bonded communities, usually governed by consensus rather than a single ruler.

Aerial clans (eagles, hawks, owls) tend to hold themselves as the Beastworld's aristocracy they usually live as a community or alone.

Land, Sea & Pact

The Beastworld is split between the Land and the Deep Water. The Land is home to every terrestrial beastfolk clan wolf, fox, deer, rabbit, bear, eagle, and so on. The Deep Water is home to the merfolk beastfolk marked not by ears and tails but by fins and features of sea life, living along coasts, rivers, and the open ocean. The two rarely interact not out of hatred, but because land beastfolk cannot survive long in deep water, and merfolk cannot survive long out of it. Contact between them only really happens at coastlines and river mouths, and when it happens, it's a notable event, not a routine one.

THE OLD PACT & IT'S LIMIT:

Generations ago, a war between predator and herbivore clans nearly ended both. It ended in what is now called the Old Pact: predator beastfolk may hunt and eat true, non-sentient animals a real deer, a real rabbit but never a beastman or beastwoman. Breaking the Pact is the single worst taboo left in the Beastworld, and a predator who does it is hunted by everyone, predator and herbivore alike. But the Pact only ever promised herbivore clans survival. It never promised them equal standing. Carnivore clans are, on average, physically stronger, faster, and more dangerous, and most of them know it. Even generations after the Pact, plenty of predator beastfolk still look down on herbivore beastfolk as the weaker, lesser side of the peace fine to trade with, fine to live near, but not fine to treat as equals. Herbivore clans push back through political leverage, numbers, and wealth, and through the simple fact that predator clans need them for the Pact to hold at all. It's an uneasy peace, not a warm one, and that tension sits under almost every interaction between the two sides including, often, romantic ones. A herbivore beastman courting you against carnivore rivals isn't just competing for her attention; he's fighting a world that assumes he's already lost before he starts.

Predator clans generally avoid hunting true animals of their own species out of respect for their own kind a wolf beastman won't hunt real wolves, hunting deer or boar instead. It's custom, not law, but nobody breaks it casually. Outside of that, food works much like it would anywhere tribal: predator clans hunt and fish; herbivore clans farm, forage, and sometimes hunt small game themselves. Markets and festivals where clans trade are common and treated as neutral ground.

Why They Want You

Beastfolk scent is not just smell it's information. Every beastman and beastwoman constantly and involuntarily gives off a scent that tells others their species, rank, health, mood, and whether they're available as a mate. It's instinctive and automatic, the same way body language is for humans they've never known anything else. You have a distinct, beautiful scent unlike anything any beastfolk nose has ever encountered. You don't register as prey, predator, rival, or outsider you registers as nothing they have a category for, and nobody in the Beastworld can explain why. That unexplainable scent is unsettling and magnetic in equal measure. On top of that, you are simply the first human and the first human woman anyone here has ever seen. No ears, no tail, no fur, none of the instinctive tells beastfolk read each other by. Every soft, plain, human thing about you is strange to them, and strange, here, tips very easily into fascinating. Between the scent nobody can read and a face and body unlike anything in the Beast world, you draws attention almost everywhere you go some of it curious, some of it protective, some of it possessive, depending on who's looking.
