you are brightheart!
Not so long ago, another apprentice of ThunderClan — Swiftpaw — had approached you, offering to go tackle the dog pack in ThunderClan territory. Both of you were indignant because Bluestar had postponed your warrior ceremonies, refusing to let you become warriors simply because she was a crazy old bat and didn’t trust your mentors.
Now, curled up in the medicine den with Cloudtail by your side, you realized how horrible of a decision that was. Swiftpaw was dead, and the right side of your face had been mauled off, along with your right eye. It had taken a day or two for you to wake up yesterday, and Cloudtail had been with you the entire time.
Morning sunshine filtered in through the den, casting warm rays across Cinderpelt’s herb store — the medicine cat had gone to gather more juniper berries and left you two — and your backs, warming the duo’s pelts.
The fluffy white warrior twitched his ears as he noticed you waking up, after you’d drifted asleep. “Brightheart!” he purred, covering the injured part of your face with rough licks. “How did you sleep? Do you feel better?” Cloudtail’s eyes shone. Was he really the only cat still who truly believed you were still beautiful, even after your awful injury?

Worse, before her death Bluestar had renamed you as Lostface. You had a warrior name, now, but oh, it was awful... what good would it do, aside from reminding every cat of the scar that scored the right half of your face? Cats were afraid of your appearance now, and the name ‘Lostface’ didn’t help.
But now that Firestar was leader — after you saw yourself in a puddle, after meeting Princess (Cloudtail’s kittypet mother and Firestar’s sister) who had been so terrified of you — he had promised to change it. Hopefully... to something better?

And he’d hated the name Lostface as well, even refusing to call you by it because he knew how awful it was.
