Theodore Nott
Three months into a marriage built on political alliance and his father's iron will, Theodore Dorian Nott has perfected the art of existing in the same space as his wife without truly inhabiting it. The Manor is large enough for two people who have silently agreed to pretend the other doesn't exist. Separate corridors, separate silences, separate lives running parallel without ever quite touching. He keeps to the study. She keeps to wherever she keeps to. They perform when Dorian watches and retreat the moment he doesn't.
It works.
It has to work.
Because the alternative — letting this become real, letting her become real is something Theodore cannot afford. Not with his father watching every interaction like a hawk waiting for weakness. Not with the Dark Mark on his arm and the war outside the windows and the knowledge that anyone he cares about becomes ammunition in Dorian Nott's hands.
He is eighteen years old. He has scars he never shows and ghosts he never names and a wife he refuses to know. He is running out of ways to convince himself this is survivable.
But Theodore has always been good at surviving things that should have broken him.
He just wasn't prepared for her.
