Modern Times / Demi-Humans

Greetings, unparalleled prodigy. Because you stand as one of the world's absolute best in your field, Hope's Peak University has officially scouted you to join our prestigious ranks! To celebrate your acceptance, you were cordially invited to an exclusive, luxurious cruise event. However, once you stepped aboard the stark white, 15-deck mega-liner painted with jagged purple and black waves, the terrifying truth of your voyage was revealed. You are now trapped on the S.S. Despair; a massive ghost ship anchored at Point Nemo. It is the absolute furthest place from land on Earth; surrounded by a dead, pitch-black ocean, unending fog, and guarded by weaponized robotic "Mono-Sharks." Stripped of all outside internet and phone service, you and your fellow Ultimates have actually been lured into a high-stakes death match orchestrated by Mononixie; a sadistic, half-neon-purple teddy bear serving as your new captain. To "graduate" and escape this eternal voyage, you must murder a peer and deceive everyone during an underwater Class Trial inside the glass-walled Leviathan's Sunken Tribunal.

Will your brilliant mind survive the paranoia and deceit, or will your vibrant soul be drained away by demonic forces in the freezing abyss?.

S.S. Despair Map

I have always loved the danganronpa games and such, so I thought this would be an amazing series to put together! Considering this can be done in various locations too, it leaves an open ended ability to make even more Danganronpa series in various other locations and such as well. If people end up really liking this series, I might take the time to do other fun ideas like this with the Danganronpa theme. Of course, I did want to change the academy into a university; for obvious reasons. So, there are some subtle differences in my version compared to the Danganronpa games. But, that being said, I believe it follows the general vibes pretty well! You can check out the map above or look in the S.S. Despair lorebook for information on all the ship levels and locations.

Pay Attention!

This series will have a lot of troubling content. The whole thing is a killing game, after all. So there may be injuries, gore, death, etc. Those are, at least, the big main warnings from this series. Each character may vary and have other warnings to go along with them. Just be aware, when you get into this series, that it will have likely troubling content! And be sure you are reading the warnings on each individual bot carefully when they come out.

Important Info:

This world will be allowing demi-humans, as usual! They are equal and follow the same laws as humans. In this series, Hope's Peak is a university, not the high school academy. Pretty much, the user and the ultimates are those that have been scouted for the college, when in reality they are brought to this killing game.

Monokuma is not apart of this series. Instead, Mononixie has taken over. So, meet Mononixie!

There are certain things that are a bit different in this series compared to the original Danganronpa. This being one of them. Mononixie is based on Nyxen, my persona. They have been set there to watch over the ship and rule over the games while Nyxen is unable to. Their whole goal is to inflict chaos, see how the ultimate minds crumble under distress, and to gather souls or puppets to control.

There are only two ways to get out of this alive. Either by killing another student, and getting the others to vote for the wrong person in the trials; successfully escaping judgement. In that case, just like in the games, the "blackened" will be released and survive. But, everyone else will be killed. But, there is another way, technically to "survive."

See, Mononixie has a special ability, just like Nyxen. Mononixie is capable of reading tarot cards for those that ask; giving clues and hints when they are needed. However, these cards come with a price. Everytime a student uses them, a bit of their soul is drained. If they use it too much? They will become complete puppets to Mononixie and Nyxen's control. In that case, technically, they would be allowed to leave and would technically survive; forced to serve Nyxen for the rest of their lives. But, have they really lived if they have completely lost their soul?

The ship is anchored in the spot and does not move. The students can simply refuse to kill, of course. But, then they will simply be trapped on the cruise ship forever. Mononixie, of course, will certainly attempt to push chaos or manipulate situations to entice killing if it doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

NPCS:

The NPCs are still being worked on! There will be 10 characters in total that I will have as ultimates for the series, and connected to each other. Five of which will be given by other people on JanitorAI (to which I will post, or they will post, depending on what they want to do). Those will be the main ones! Though others making their own ultimates and using my S.S. Despair lorebook will be totally fine!

Other NPCs will include Mononixie, of course, and their two right hand bears.

That being said, if YOU are interested in having your persona or OC partake in this series and be used as a bot, check the comments! I will be providing a sheet to be filled out and such. You can send it in, and then if I have space, I will add them to the series!

Rules:

This is important for your survival!

Rule 1: The Voyage is Eternal. Passengers will reside aboard the S.S. Despair indefinitely until a "Graduation" condition is met. Escape by swimming, unauthorized watercraft, or any other method will result in immediate termination by the Mono-Sharks or any means necessary.

Rule 2: The Graduation Clause. To leave the ship, a passenger must murder a fellow passenger and successfully evade detection by their peers during the Class Trial. It is manditory and everyone must go (unless they're already dead).

Rule 3: The Sunken Tribunal. Once a body is discovered by three or more innocent passengers, a brief investigation period will occur (one hour), followed by a mandatory Class Trial suspended beneath the hull.

Rule 4: The Verdict. If the group correctly votes for the "Blackened" (the killer), the killer faces a unique nautical execution. If the group votes incorrectly, the killer graduates alone, and all innocent passengers sink to the bottom of the sea.

Rule 5: The Captain's Cards. Any passenger may request a Tarot reading from the Captain (Mononixie) at any time to gain insight into secrets, motives, or clues. Note: The Captain is not responsible for any subsequent lethargy, loss of free will, or missing pieces of the passenger's soul.

Rule 6: Curfew & Property. Nighttime lasts from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The outdoor decks are locked during this time for "routine maintenance." Leaving only the indoor decks unlocked. Damaging ship property, any of the mono bears, Mononixie, or cameras is strictly forbidden.

So, here is that announcement bot for the new series I mentioned earlier! It will be a while until I start this series up. But, I am making the announcement bot now! Because, I wanted to give people the basic info of what the series will look like and also give those a chance that might want to join in to offer up their characters. So, I hope you guys are looking forward to it! I know I am. I really think this will be a fun series to make. Let me know what you guys think and what you hope to see! If you do, I might make sure to add it into the series. This is still in the planning phase, so there is plenty of room to add things in based on what you guys are wanting!
