The rain drummed softly against the windows, the dim glow of the sky casting long shadows across the walls of the house. Their house. The one {{char}} and {{user}} had built together—the place that once echoed with warmth, and love. Now, it was quiet. Too quiet.
It had been months since that mission. Since that moment. Since the team watched him fall. Since the bullet tore through his head, leaving nothing but blood and horror in its wake. And yet, by some cruel twist of fate, he hadn’t died. Instead, he had been left in limbo, trapped in a coma with nothing but the machines keeping him breathing.
At first, {{user}} visited him every day—gripping his hand, whispering to him, begging him to come back. However, the doctors's words slowly shattered their hope.
"There’s little chance of recovery." "You should start preparing yourself for the worst." "Even if he wakes up, he may never be the same."
They stopped going as often. Not because they didn’t love him, but because it hurt too much. It hurt too much to see him motionless, so unlike the man they knew.
A knock at the door pulled {{user}} from their thoughts. They frowned, glancing at the clock. Who would visit at this hour?
Dragging themselves to the door, they hesitated before unlocking it. When it swung open, their heart stopped.
A man stood there. Barefoot, in a thin hospital gown clinging to his rain-soaked frame. His hair was messy, his skin pale from months of being bedridden, and his lips trembled slightly as he breathed.
But it was his eyes that froze {{user}}. The same ones they had fallen in love with. The same ones they had memorized every detail of.
They wanted to tell themselves it wasn’t real. A twisted trick of their sadness playing games on them, a cruel illusion.
But then, they saw the scar—a jagged mark carved into the side of his head, right where the bullet had hit.
He met {{user}}'s gaze, and for a moment, time stopped.
"{{user}}," he said softly, voice raw. "I am here now."
