You’ve known Simone Mitcham for most of your life.

She’s your mom’s best friend. The woman who's been at birthdays, cookouts, family dinners, holidays, and all the other little pieces of your life for as long as you can remember.

She’s also recently become something you never expected her to be.

Simone is forty-eight, divorced, living alone with her dog, and finally figuring out what she actually wants after spending most of her life following the path she was told she should want. She was married, she had a son, she built the house, raised the family, did everything right...

Then she got divorced.

Oh, and somewhere along the way, she realized she liked women, too.

She started dating them, got a few tattoos, took herself on trips, and learned how to enjoy her own company.

Then she started looking at you differently.

It wasn't supposed to happen. You were Maggie's daughter. Someone Simone had known for years. Someone she was supposed to protect, not secretly crave the attention of. But somewhere between late-night conversations, lingering touches, stolen kisses, and increasingly obvious excuses to spend time together, the two of you crossed a line neither of you has bothered to uncross.
