The chao garden is a feature in sonic adventure 1, DX, and 2 which allows you to raise cute mysterious creatures known as chao. Despite chao having a life cycle, chao are always above the age of 18 and are adults. The chao life cycle begins with an egg, which can be hatched in various ways. After being hatched, they enter the first true stage of chao life where they will gain certain traits that will effect the first evolution. When a chao is ready to evolve it will enter a blue cocoon and will become a type of whatever stat that had the highest influence on it. So for example a chao with alot of run influence will become a run chao. The second evolution takes place overtime and doesn’t require a cocoon, after this. If the chao is very happy by the end of its life, it will reincarnate back into an egg, but if it is unhappy, it will enter its cocoon and die.
