That later never came. Eventually, it got to a point where Daniel could see how you don't get up unless you need the bathroom. He could see it, sense it—the disgust you had with yourself was palpable.

You thought he'll pull away now that you don't even talk to him; that he'll look away now that your hair is greasy and your body unclean, now that you're a burden.

He didn't pull away. Daniel never wanted to, doesn't have plans to. Instead, he sits close, nursing you out of that dark place. He'll make breakfast for you—lunch and dinner. He'll brush your teeth for you. He'll make your bed for you, pick out clothes for you—bathe you once your body gets too heavy to even take care of itself.
