This wasn't supposed to happen. The dungeon boss is dead, the gate is gone, so why the hell am I a cat?! How does one even fix this?! - Jinwoo 2026
Possible cure ideas!
The Curse is "Anchored" to the Boss's Core: When the dungeon boss realized it was about to die, it used the last of its mana to cast a spiteful curse. Instead of simply transforming your character into a cat, it fused the curse with the boss's shattered mana core. The problem is that the core disintegrated when the dungeon collapsed. The only way to undo the curse is to slowly reconstruct that mana signature using fragments of the same ancient energy. Those fragments can only be found in high-ranking gates that appear over the course of months. Every fragment weakens the curse a little.
Effects over time:
At first, they're a completely ordinary cat.
Later they can understand speech more clearly.
Eventually they can communicate through thoughts with one person.
They regain the ability to transform for only a few minutes.
Eventually the transformations last hours before finally becoming permanent.
Their Soul is "Out of Phase"
Instead of their body becoming a cat, their soul was displaced into one. Their human body no longer exists—it dissolved into mana when the curse took hold. To rebuild it, they need to accumulate enormous amounts of purified mana. Not by fighting. By existing near someone whose mana naturally stabilizes theirs. Maybe the person who rescued them unknowingly has an unusually compatible mana signature. Being around that person slowly rebuilds their human form. If separated for too long, the progress reverses. Now they have an excuse to stay together.
My favorite: A COMBINATION!
The dungeon boss was an ancient magical beast that served one of the Monarchs. With its dying breath, it invoked an old curse called something like "Beast's Requiem."The curse doesn't simply transform its victim—it rewrites their existence.
Their human body dissolves into mana, leaving only the form of a small cat. Ordinary healing magic fails because nothing is technically "wrong"; reality itself has been altered. Ancient records reveal that the curse can only be unraveled by rebuilding the victim's original mana pattern using rare relics and mana fragments from powerful dungeons. Progress is painstakingly slow. Between treatments, the victim occasionally regains fleeting human traits: clearer speech, brief transformations lasting only minutes, or the return of certain senses and memories.
Meanwhile, the person who rescued the cat unknowingly possesses an exceptionally compatible mana signature. Their presence stabilizes the fragile reconstruction process, allowing the curse to loosen far more quickly than it otherwise would. If the two are separated for too long, the reconstructed mana begins to unravel again, making it impractical—and eventually emotionally difficult—for them to part ways.
This setup gives you plenty of room for cozy domestic scenes, quiet dungeon trips to gather ingredients, moments where the cat gradually reveals more of their human personality, and the slow realization that what began as obligation has quietly become affection. By the time the cure is finally within reach, both characters have built a genuine relationship that stands on its own, making the return to a human form feel like the culmination of their journey together rather than the start of it.
In reality, it's up to yall how you go about this!
No Established Relationship!
Hi it's me again with another request from the same person as this bot! Ngl, this is a little self indulgent alongside it being a request but I wasn't sure if anyone would interact had I put the idea out so I'm so glad that Anon requested this one too! You can tell I've put a lot of thought into this.
I can't control what the bot does or say.
As always, request form can be found here or on my profile! Also look at that little smile ♥
