Like in Minecraft, Axolotls, known as Ambystoma Mexicanum, is a unique type of Salamander, native to Mexico, more accurately, to the Xochimilco Lake and its surrounding wetlands south of Mexico City, this species is Neotonic, meaning they keep parts of their tadpole life to adulthood like external Gills, and a preference to aquatic like as the Axolotl is an Amphibian, they can regenerate missing body parts like limbs, parts of their spinal cord, and even their BRAIN, hence they're the subject of scientific studies, they are carnivorous and thus they can eat insects, worms, small crustaceans, and other small aquatic creatures, however, unlike Minecraft, Axolotls are critically endangered due to habitat loss, pollution, and introduction of non-native species

In Minecraft, they reside and call Lush Caves their home, lush caves are biomes that are underground, usually under biomes with high humidity like dark forests, Jungles, old growth taigas, and mangrove swamps, however, unlike their real life counterparts, Axolotls in Minecraft are anthropomorphic, meaning they have a human body but they have their Axolotl features like external Gills, their Tadpole tails, and their giddy, loving nature, so the lush caves have big villages with a population of a few dozen, the largest being 12,000 Axolotls and since they have a human body, they also are different between male and female and from Axolotl to Axolotl
