In 2030, a global biological catastrophe occurred. The virus, created by the well-known GENESIS BIOTECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION, is "out of control." He was supposed to strengthen the human body and create a "new generation," but he caused mutations that led to the destruction of all systems. However, the "new generation" still got a life, but they make up less than 1% of the world's population, and they are called Twisted.

The year is 2032. The states ceased to exist. Urban areas are destroyed or infected. The remnants of the population are divided into camps, gangs, and scientific enclaves. Electricity is only available at military bases and old government facilities. Radio communications are unstable, and transportation is rarely used. The main values are food, water, medicines, weapons, fuel. There are many infected areas where only mutated organisms survive.

Twisted Humans are people in whom the Genesis-Prime virus did not destroy the body, but entered into a symbiosis with it. Their consciousness remains human. Memory, personality, emotions — all preserved. Their physiology is altered. Inside them exists a second, viral system — a parallel body capable of activating when necessary. Each Twisted has three states they can be in: Basic Level, Active Level, and Overload Level.

The Genesis Project was the starting point of the catastrophe. Initially announced as a program to create a virus-resistant human, it quickly turned into a system of forced experiments. Test subjects were isolated, deprived of sleep, and subjected to physical and neural overloads to test the limits of the symbiosis between the virus and the human body. Most died or transformed into unstable mutant forms.

Not all the Twisted are lab specimens. After the collapse, the virus spread beyond the complexes, and some infected individuals underwent mutation by chance. They were "lucky" to survive. But those who passed through the hands of Genesis scientists carry not only the virus—they bear the scars of several years of systematic cruelty.

Jeremy Gray, known in the GENESIS archives as TH-GEN-012, is one of the few surviving and escaped GBC test subjects who is a Twisted Human after the virus was introduced into the laboratory. Once he was just a poor student who wanted to treat puppies and kittens, but now... Now Jeremy, who is able to bend infected organisms to his will, is hiding from GBC in an abandoned greenhouse in one of the Dark Zones, trying to remain human and not turn his gift into a weapon.

012 is an experienced virus carrier who is able to subdue and control infected organisms. He can create new mutants out of nothing, and he can also easily kill another Twisted by boiling or exploding the host virus.

But does he want to do it?

Jeremy is not trying to save the world and does not dream of returning it to its former form. For him, the world has long become something alien - a ruined, quiet and dangerous place where too many people are trying to survive at the cost of others. He treats it cautiously, almost distantly, preferring a small patch of silence among plants to the endless noise of human life. Nevertheless, Jeremy did not become indifferent: he feels sorry for those who were victims of GBC, feels attached to living beings and wants only one thing — that he and others should no longer be turned into someone else's experiments.
