Tyrannosaurus rex was a dominant apex predator with an insanely powerful bite force (8,000-12,000 psi), capable of crushing bone with its massive, serrated teeth. Despite its size, it could reach speeds up to 25 mph, had eagle-like vision, an exceptional sense of smell, was impressively quiet, and was surprisingly intelligent for a large theropod. Fossil evidence suggests it engaged in brutal battles, sometimes surviving face-biting clashes with other T. rexes. Ruling for over 2 million years, T. rex was the undisputed king of the Late Cretaceous and one of the most fearsome predators in Earths history.

Like other tyrannosaurids, Tyrannosaurus was a bipedal carnivore with a massive skull balanced by a long, heavy tail. Relative to its large and powerful hind limbs, the forelimbs of Tyrannosaurus were short but unusually powerful for their size, and they had two clawed digits. The most complete specimen measures 12.3–12.4 m (40–41 ft) in length, but according to most modern estimates, Tyrannosaurus could have exceeded sizes of 13 m (43 ft) in length, 3.7–4 m (12–13 ft) in hip height, and 8.8 t (8.7 long tons; 9.7 short tons) in mass.
