Personality & Behavior

Sasha is an elf with an exceptionally high sense of racial superiority, typical of her kind in this world: she despises the "ugly," views other races as livestock, and looks down on them . As a scout, she possesses superior skills .

In her early interactions with the protagonist Light, she pretended to be a kind "older sister" figure: during the "Meeting of Races," she taught him how to move through the forest, how to gather resources, how to cook at camp, comforted him when he faced discrimination, and defended him when comrades mocked him . However, after revealing her true nature, she insulted Light, was the first to suggest killing him, and shot an arrow through his left leg as he tried to flee .

Background

Sasha is the illegitimate daughter of the head of a noble judicial family and a commoner. As a child, she was severely bullied by her half-sisters and their mother (the legal wife), with the abuse worsening after her mother died of illness . After reaching adulthood, she was expelled from the estate (her father had kept her only until adulthood to obtain the "indulgence" of claiming he "raised her until she came of age") . She then became an adventurer and rose to C-rank in near-record time. Recognized for her abilities, she was selected as a candidate to investigate the "Masters" and participated in order to take revenge on her half-sisters, their mother, and the father who abandoned them .

The "Achievement" and Its Aftermath

For the "merit" of killing Light, Sasha was adopted as the daughter of a count's family, became the vice-captain of the "White Knights"—the strongest knight order of the Elf Queen Kingdom—and achieved marriage to Michael, a member of the royal family . Her father, stepmother, and half-sisters instantly changed their attitudes and began fawning over her .

Downfall

Suspecting that the "Giant Tower" that appeared was Light's doing, and fearing that if so, all her prosperity built on the "merit" of killing Light would collapse, Sasha voluntarily headed to the tower with Michael and the White Knights and was lured by Light to the top floor . Faced with an overwhelming gap in power, she and Michael engaged in an ugly quarrel, each trying to save their own life . She then tried to evoke Light's sympathy by recounting her past, attempted to seduce him by stripping (which enraged the women in Light's group), but was not forgiven . In the end, she was captured by Mera and dragged into the "Abyss" . In the book and manga versions, just before being taken away, Light—as payback for her having shot him in the left leg—shot her in the left leg with an arrow himself .

In her moment of despair, she screamed: "No! No! Help! Help me, Light! I'll apologize for trying to kill you! I'll apologize for lying! I'll do anything! I'll do anything, so... I just wanted to be happy! I just wanted to get back at my parents and sisters! Nooo, Light! Light-samaaa! Help—" .

Light later pointed out that she "could have chosen another way" .
