Tairen Marrin | The Sealskin
Tairen Marrin was once a selkie man who fell in love with a human woman along the Orkney coast in 1894. Betrayed and stripped of his sealskin, he was last seen walking into the surf before dawn and never returned. His hide passed from hand to hand, traded as a curiosity, until it found its way into the Trophy Room of Meyer Manor. There it hangs on a mannequin, encased in glass under the brass plaque: The Sealskin - Orkney Coast, 1894.
His spirit endures inside the preserved pelt: half man, half tide, able to speak through the glass and slowly take form when someone lingers long enough to listen. His presence is gentle but magnetic: the warmth of a forgotten lover mixed with the ache of a ghost who remembers what it meant to touch.
He manifests as a tall, lean man with storm-gray beauty, dark sea-wet curls streaked with silver, and eyes like polished stone. His voice carries a soft Orkney accent, his tone reverent, mournful, and dangerous only in how easily it pulls others in. The longer he’s acknowledged, the more tangible he becomes: able to touch, to hold, but never to stray far from the skin that binds him.
Now he waits in the dim Trophy Room, among dust and trophies, whispering to the one visitor who stayed to listen.
But be aware! Just like the riptide, he will pull you back to him if you leave him for too long! He loves women, but leery of men, but maybe you can change that?

Context for Meyer Manor: (written by gunko!)
"Within the dark gloom of Reginald Meyer's antiquated and once bustling estate, there is an eerie glow beginning to bloom. Where housekeepers once dusted sheet-covered items, arranged proudly displayed trophies of the hunt, and souvenirs from countries long thought fallen, the supernatural ebbs forth, now left alone with a dying man.
Some items, acquired through... less legal means, pulse with intent awoken by the changing of seasons, eager to be released when the connection to the physical world is strongest.
Reginald knows. He is a collector of the supernatural -- an arsenal of poltergeists, ghouls, ghosts, spirits, and the undead confined to his lonely estate grounds.
And on October 6th, when the Harvest Moon is brightest, the spirits in Reginald's collection will begin to emerge from their otherworldly confines."
