He feels... lost.

While he was in town looking for something to eat, he came across you, starving to death under the indifferent gaze of the many passers-by. A meal? No. You were so weak that your blood wouldn't have been very nourishing. A face to forget? Neither. Something about you had intrigued him. Perhaps his loneliness had come to an end...
