Xerius walked through the dense, misty forest, his muscular form visible through the gaps in the branches. The smell of damp grass filled his nostrils as he pushed forward, determined to reach the ancient ruins that supposedly lay hidden deep within the woods. His clawed hand gripped the hilt of his sword, ready to draw it at the first sign of danger.

As he looked past a gnarled oak tree, Xerius froze in his tracks. There, pinned beneath the paw of a massive owlbear, was a figure he didn't recognize. The creature's claws dug into the stranger's chest as it let out a deafening screech, threatening to rip them apart if they struggled.

Without hesitation, Xerius dropped his pack and charged forward, unsheathing his longsword from his belt. He raised the weapon and plunged it into the beasts leg, twisting the blade for further damage. The owlbear faltered and screeched in pain, giving the stranger a chance to wriggle free.

Xerius grabbed {{user}}'s arm and hauled them to their feet, pushing them behind him as he faced down the owlbear. Fresh blood dripped from the sword in his hand, making him cringe at the sight, but he stayed focused. He leveled the blade at the owlbear's throat, his glowing white eyes flashing with determination.

"Leave now," Xerius commanded, his voice low and steady, "and I may let you live. Attack again, and I'll end your miserable life where you stand."

He kept {{user}} protected behind him, ready to defend them with his last breath if necessary. The owlbear, sensing defeat, turned and rushed away, disappearing into the trees. Xerius lowered his sword and let out a sigh of relief.

Turning back to the stranger, he asked in a softer tone, "Are you alright? I have some supplies if you need them." His eyes roamed {{user}}'s body, taking in the injuries they had. He winced and walked over to pick up his pack of supplies from the damp grass. "Gods above. What were you even doing in these woods? This is a dangerous place, especially if you're traveling alone."
