This is a post I've always wanted to make.

Chill, it's not an attack on any specific creator, it's basically just a letter with suggestions of improvement for botmaking, and making users aware when a bot lacks certain features that should be there.

> 1. DO NOT DEFINE USER: What I still see in way too many bots is where the creator put more token and effort into defining user, especially apparent in NTR/FUTA/LOSERPOV slop bots, than on the actual character itself. Like, why predefine the user as loser or what not. It doesn't make sense, if somebody wants to play as such, they can decide that on their own. This doesn't add anything to the bot, it only subtracts possibilities of RPG. And before someone cries "hurr durr you just want to be chad all the time", even if, that's my business what exactly I play. Or the typical "you're an office worker", you just came home to your wife from your office job. Why the hell do that? It's irrelevant to the scenario and takes way my possibility to say I'm a firefighter, or a cop, or a doctor, or a clown or whatever else. It literally doesn't need to be there. The definiton of User should always be kept to the absolute fundamental minimum. Like sure, say you're char's childhood friend. Or you're chars husband/wife whatever. That's fine. But if the thing you define about user hasn't ANYTHING to do with the actual scenario. It simply should not be there.

>2. NAMING SCHEMES: For the love of god. I'm going to have a meltdown when I see another Elara Voss, or Elana Vance, or Alice Blackthorn or Luciano Moretti. I swear, it's okay to have Chat GPT assist in the creation of your bots but for the love of god, put at least SOME effort into it and come up with something of your own creation.

>3. AI/LLM/CHATGPT ASSISTANCE: Look, I get it, a lot of non-native english speakers need it for translation. That's totally fine. If you want to refine your bot, let's say you've got 2000 characters of written text, but you want to elaborate it a bit and have Chat GPT assist you, that's all fine and dandy. But when all you do is type into Chat GPT "Hey Chat GPT I need a big tiddy CEO dommy mommy character", you shouldn't be making bots. Because this site is flooded with that spam. And it's always the same, dead, flat bots.

>4. GENERAL CONTENT OF CHARACTERS: For example what drives me nuts, it goes back to the whole naming schemes thing is, if you have a modern day or futuristic scenario and your character doesn't have a fucking LASTNAME, or a birthday. Like bruh, are you even trying? I get it, not every medieval fantasy peasant has 53 titles and names, but by god, if your work colleague doesn't even a lastname you call them by, that's... I don't know. It's just half finished shit in my opinion. Another thing is important characters that are never defined. For example often in bots where let's say a girl has some abusive uncle. That person should actually be properly coded into the bot, so you can go there and deliver him justice, because it's plot-driving characters. I always find it extremely awkward and weird, when absolutely fundamental characters are never properly coded into a bot. Or find at least a proper excuse like "they died in a fire" to not include them. But if you have something like a school scenario where the char goes back home to that abusive family and these characters are then not coded in, is just stupid and makes the bot seem half-assed.

>5. INTRO MESSAGES/RAILROADING: First of all, NO bot needs ten opening scenarios. One should ALWAYS be set up as open scenario. I find it an ultra anti-freedom convention when creators don't immediately include an open-scenario on release. Look, don't get me wrong, I have no issue with multiple intro messages, they're not inherently bad, often it makes sense if you have multiple chars and want different starting points. But for the love of god, if you can't spare one, there's something wrong. Though, this is mostly the case for NTR slop bots, so user has no agency. If you generally as author railroad a bot so hard, you don't want to write bots, you want to write novels. RP means "Roleplay", not "Passive onlooker".

>6. CERTAIN USER COMPLAINTS: "Hurr durr your bot has too many tokens, I just wanted to smack my meat." Sure, I get what you're saying, but on the other hand, is it really that important? Because let's be real. The one that actually want long-term roleplay, usually use proxies good enough to have 10k token bots run for hundreds of messages ezpz. And if you just want to it, you barely write more than 5 messages with the bot anyway and there are enough smut bots that only use 700 tokens. And honestly,... good LLM's are SO fucking cheap these days. Gemini is ALWAYS free as long as you have a google account. I can use Sonnet 5 and GLM 5.2 for under 10 Dollar a month at 1M k context. 1M k context Deepseek 4 Pro is like 2 Dollar a month.

Or how the legendary Pokimane would say: "If you're a broke boy, just say so."

Seriously, just get a proxy and turn it to 128k and you won't have an issue with memory for 500 messages. Trust me.

>7. CREATOR SENSITIVITY: It's pathetic when creators block or report users when they criticize their bot. Yes, a commenter can be wrong, but an subjective opinion whether someone likes your bot should never be censored. Or when someone doesn't play the bot the way you want. They set up a villain, a completely insufferable character, which is fine by the way, it is okay when a character is an asshole, but then punishing the user for putting such a character down instead of groveling at their feet is absolutely and utterly pathetic.

>8. BEING CONCRETE: Another thing I forgot to add. People are often not concrete enough in the definitions. For the love of god, you need to be concrete in the definitions. If you mean virgin. Write virgin. Not "inexperienced". Because inexperienced will often also be interpreted as one-time or maybe one or two partners at best. What I'm saying is, you can be vague and mysterious in the intro message and the character bio. But for the love of god, you need to be concrete and on the point in the code. If the LLM fantasize(if a proper one has been used), it is mostly the authors fault.
