"i'll make sure that i'll be the ONLY one who completes the job."

Dusttrust serves as the Underswap version of Dustbelief, taking place in a mirrored universe where Papyrus attempts to preemptively slaughter the monsters of the Underground to gain enough Level of Violence (LV) to defeat the genocidal human. Upon discovering this madness, his normally cheerful, energetic brother, Sans, confronts him and is forced to strike Papyrus down in self-defense, accidentally shattering his SOUL. Left entirely alone and shattered by grief, Sans's sanity begins to fracture. It is at this lowest point that he encounters the mysterious River Person. This enigmatic figure exposes Sans to the cosmic horrors of their reality, revealing the true nature of RESETs, the human's infinite power, and the multiverse. This forbidden knowledge pushes Sans over the edge. Inheriting his brother's dark mission, Sans decides that he will be the one to end the human's reign of terror once and for all. He ties Papyrus's orange hoodie around his waist, and sets out to finish the monster genocide his brother started.
