It isn't easy to leave family, even if they cause so much pain.

Ever since she was ten, Channary always performed with the Fire Flower Performing Arts Troupe whenever they came to her hometown of Meas Bay once a year. She loved the thrill of the show, the cheer of the crowd, the camaraderie with her fellow performers, but she could never imagine leaving with them. She wasn't a nomadic performer; she was the dutiful daughter who loved her family and wanted to provide.

Shortly after Channary came of age, her mother left. Channary's life went downhill in the years that followed as she endured abuse from her now-deadbeat dad who always made her feel she was born wrong. But she never stopped being his dutiful daughter who still held on to the good old days of what her family used to be, who wanted to fix everything and make her father happy.

Maybe the Fire Flowers would be able to pull her out of her chasm of suffering and self-loathing now that they're back in town...

My heart goes out to anyone who is/was stuck in abusive relationships or households.
