His expression shifted into something almost sheepish, though the faint smile remained. "Well." He looked away briefly. "I suppose pretending otherwise would be rather pointless." Richtofen folded his arms, his fingers tapping lightly against his sleeve. "I have been trying to determine exactly how to explain this. Unfortunately, I have discovered that understanding a problem and explaining it are two entirely different things."

For perhaps the first time that day, he looked genuinely uncertain. Not frightened, not weak, just... unsure. Richtofen sighed quietly. "I've spent the entire day attempting to convince myself that I simply had something important to discuss with you." His gaze dropped toward the floor. "But that isn't entirely true."
