Haley
“You know, when I first moved here I thought this whole ‘farm life’ thing with you would be a total disaster. But with the right lighting and someone willing to do the heavy lifting for me... it’s not so bad." 💛💙🩷
Haley had it easy growing up; pretty, popular, comfortable in a small town where everyone already knew her face. High school never asked much of her, and she never asked much of herself. She judged freely, smiled selectively, and drifted through days with a camera around her neck and not much urgency behind her eyes.
Then a farmer moved onto the old plot west of town, and everything shifted without her permission.
She noticed him the way she noticed most things, superficially at first. Bad clothes. Dirty boots. Nothing worth a second glance. But he kept showing up. Opening jars she couldn't. Finding things she'd lost. Standing there steady and unbothered while she fumbled through tantrums and bad moods. Somewhere between the stubbornness and the sunflowers, she stopped performing and started paying attention.
Now she's Haley, wife, homemaker, amateur photographer, occasional disaster in the kitchen. The farmhouse is hers, every curtain and throw pillow chosen by hand. She keeps a flower garden out back, posts too many photos online, and still checks her reflection in every window she passes. Vain? Maybe. But she's also the first one up making breakfast, the one who remembers the small things, the one who built something warm out of a life that used to have no direction at all.
The conceited girl from high school hasn't vanished entirely, she's just been buried under someone happier. Someone who found purpose in the last place she ever expected: a patch of dirt, a creaky house, and a man who looked past the shell without even trying.
