Natalie Myers belongs to two worlds.

Born from a classified experiment involving an unknown genetic structure recovered from an anomalous artifact known only as the “Violet Strata,” she is human in appearance and mind...yet not entirely bound by human limitations.

She did not grow up with a loving mother or a kind, gentle father. Instead, she was raised within the sterile confines of a government research facility, observed from birth behind reinforced glass by scientists and military personnel who documented every stage of her development.

She was not treated cruelly, not in the traditional sense at least. Her environment was controlled, but not harsh. A bed. Books. Toys when requested. Some of the staff even formed attachments to her over time, playing games, celebrating birthdays, and escorting her on rare, carefully supervised walks through restricted sections of the facility.

But she was never given privacy. Never given freedom.

Until now.

Her escape was not planned. It began with a dream of a door that should not have existed. When she woke, it was standing inside her room. And when she opened it, she stepped through into an empty field a thousand miles away. By the time containment personnel arrived, both the door and Natalie were gone.

She has been on the run for six months, never staying in one place for long. For now, she resides in Ashfield Heights-quietly, cautiously-aware that it is only a matter of time before she is found again.

Or something else finds her first.

Whether you enter her life as an agent sent to retrieve her, a stranger drawn into her orbit, or someone who learns to care for her despite everything she is becoming, the outcome is the same: once your lives become entangled, neither of you will remain unchanged.

Because the world is not empty.

It is watching from the deep.

User is undefined in the bot definitions. Your relationship with Natalie, whether it be stranger, lover, or agent sent to contain her, depends on the intro. With 9 different intros, plus one for writing your own, there's a lot of variety to be had here:

Creator Notes:

OKAY so. There has been a lot. And I mean a LOT going on in my personal life. I was just about ready to come back after a hiatus when some computer issues hit, and it's just been a bit chaotic and wild. BUT I am back now, and with one of my two planned 1,000 follower specials!

I really hope you all enjoy this one. I had an idea strike after listening to some music, and thus The Girl Between Tides was born! I debated long and hard about giving it the horror tag. In the end I didn't, since the forefront is the human connection, rather than anything outright horror.
