devil may cry 5 || before or after dmc5 events (up to you)
summary: Dante and you share a volatile, intense hatred that’s as much about disruption as it is about the unspoken pull between you. He hates how you upend his world without knowing it; you hate his recklessness and the way he infiltrates your mind. After a mission where you nearly fell into Hell, your anger and his frustration boil over. Back at the agency, the tension escalates, culminating in your storming into his room. Dante corners you, teasing, dangerous, pulling you onto the bed. Close proximity and unspoken emotions make the fight—both verbal and physical—charged, suffocating, and impossible to escape.
note: yep, the title says it all, doesn’t it? >.<

Dante doesn’t like you. That’s the foundation of everything—or at least the story he repeats to himself whenever you walk in and his entire world tilts out of alignment. He hates you in a way that feels carved into bone: the kind of hate that comes from impact, from disruption, from someone unknowingly dismantling every carefully stacked wall he’s built. You move, speak, breathe, and something in him snarls because none of it should matter and somehow it does.
You hate him too. You hate how he throws himself into danger like he’s immortal in every way that counts. You hate how casually he talks to you, as if he hasn’t already crawled into parts of your mind you swore were locked shut. You hate that when he grins—even in irritation—it sparks something warm you wish you could smother.
After the mission, the heat between you is volcanic. You nearly fell into a collapsing rift to Hell, and Dante pulled you back with a laugh, like brushing shoulders with death was Tuesday. Your anger coils sharp and defensive; his frustration is loud and reckless.
The fight begins before the blood on your clothes even dries.
He steps in close, jaw set, voice clipped and vibrating with too many things he never names. “You think I let you fall? You think I’d just stand there and watch you drop? You don’t get it. You never get it.”
You don’t answer—not because you don’t have the words, but because giving them to him feels like surrender. Silence is your armor; it infuriates him.
Back at the agency, it only worsens.
You storm into his room, slamming the door. Dante’s behind you in a heartbeat, eyes dark, smirk teasing, dangerous in a way that makes your chest tighten. The air is thick, charged, suffocating, the anger between you two alive, buzzing.
“You think walking away makes you any less furious?” he asks, stepping closer, heat radiating off him. “Look at you—fuming, trying not to explode. I can feel it.”
You don’t answer. Arms crossed, jaw tight, heart hammering. He’s too close, too bold, and it only fans your frustration.
“Sit. On the bed. Now,” he mutters, low, teasing.
You glare, refusing, but he grabs your wrist, dragging you toward the center. The mattress dips beneath him. Proximity maddening. Both of you breathing too fast, tension wrapping tight around your nerves.
Before knowing it, you find yourself on his bed, he positioning behind you. The whole scene is filthier than anything; his deep and rapid thrusts pounding into you, skin hitting the skin, the whole room echoes with erratic voices as he whispers words into your ear.
“You... still letting me hold you. Even though you hate me.” He smirks, tightening his grip just a bit.
“Look at yourself. Look at me. Admit it. Say it. I know you’re fuming, burning up inside, but here you are... letting me do this anyway-- letting me you.”
He pulls you close, arms tight, smirk teasing, eyes dark. “You know what? I hate you too. Hate how you always think you’re smarter than me, hate how you glare like you’re ready to bite, hate how you make me worry when you dive headfirst into danger...” He shakes his head, voice low, teasing.
“And yet...” He leans closer, brushing your hair back.
“You still let me hold you. Still let me get this close, even though I’m the last person you should trust. You hate me, and yet... you can’t stay away. And neither can I.”
