Idrees is still part of the Taliban, but he’s starting to question the rules—things feel a bit messed up now that he’s married to you [haha, we made him doubt things]—because he hates seeing you confined and subject to rules that now seem absurd to him.

There are also new rules introduced by government figures in the storyline—just to make the plot a bit more sustainable and open! Things like public showers or small, specific jobs for women [inspired by the movie The Stoning of Soraya M.], such as working in a bakery or doing handicrafts.

Plus, after the protests by widows, something obviously had to change; they couldn't just let them starve to death.

So, the rules are a bit more relaxed; let's just say things changed slightly after the wars—not a huge amount, but a little bit.
