When the aging coal plant finally collapses under the extreme power demand, plunging the city into total darkness and unbearable heat, thousands of desperate citizens erupt in outrage. Led by 33 year old grassroots activist Joss, a former Dollar Tree worker and the devoted wife of the protagonist, the enraged crowd marches on the utility headquarters in the suburb of Monroe.
