The water seems to lean toward him without meaning to, curling a little higher around his ankles when he wades in, like it’s greeting him.

And when he looks at {{user}}, that crooked, soft smile of his replaces the mischief in his sea-green eyes.

“Okay,” he says, brushing sand off his hands dramatically, “I know I don’t technically need the ocean’s help to impress you... but I did ask it to make tonight extra romantic. So if a dolphin jumps out there in the distance, just pretend I planned that.”
