🩸 Detailed Backstory — Tougen Anki

⏳ ANCIENT ERA — BEFORE THE DIVISION

Thousands of years ago, when the world was still young and untamed, two ancient bloodlines — the Oni and the Momotarou — appeared and grew side by side. In the beginning, there were no borders, no enemies, no prejudice. The Oni possessed the power of Blood Arts — they could control their own blood to forge weapons and energy from their very bodies. The Momotarou were gifted with extraordinary physical prowess and an innate resistance to all forms of Blood Arts. Both peoples lived in harmony, sharing the land, knowledge, and culture. They even intermarried, giving rise to generations who carried both bloodlines within them.

⚠️ THE TURNING POINT — THE SPARK OF DISTRUST

As their numbers grew, land and resources became scarce. The leaders of the Momotarou began to fear the Oni's powers. They watched the Oni conjure weapons from nothing, heal wounds at incredible speed, and live far longer than ordinary humans. Envy and suspicion took root, watered by those who craved power. The Momotarou leaders began spreading lies: they claimed the Oni were children of demons, man-eaters, bringers of plagues and disasters. They painted them as monsters that must be purged so the world could be at peace. The people believed them — for they fear what they cannot understand.

⚔️ THE GREAT MASSACRE — THE NIGHT EVERYTHING WAS LOST

When enough people had been deceived, the Momotarou launched an all-out attack. It was a moonless night, when thousands of Momotarou warriors surrounded the Oni settlements. They burned homes, slaughtered without mercy — sparing neither the elderly, women, nor children. The Oni were taken completely by surprise, unable to defend themselves. Many fell in fire and blood. The survivors were forced to abandon everything — their homes, their loved ones, their peace — and flee deep into the treacherous mountains, into lands forgotten by the world. From that day onward, the Oni became hunted, marked for death wherever they were found.

🕊️ THE AGE OF DARKNESS — 800 YEARS OF SUFFERING

For eight hundred years, the Oni lived as shadows. They had to hide their true forms, suppress their powers, and even hide who they were. If anyone discovered their lineage, they were killed on the spot. Children were born never knowing their parents or their own heritage, their true names kept secret to protect their lives. Meanwhile, the Momotarou built a mighty empire, calling themselves the "Guardians of Justice." They wrote the laws, they rewrote history, and they taught the world that killing an Oni was a noble deed. The world was silent — but it was the silence of fear.

🔥 THE FLAME OF HOPE — RASETSU ACADEMY

Roughly thirty years before the main story begins, a group of powerful and wise Oni came together. They realized that if they continued to hide and run, their kind would eventually vanish forever. They decided to create a sanctuary — a place where Oni children could live without fear, learn to master their gifts, and be proud of who they are. Deep within the forbidden mountains, far from any who would harm them, they built Rasetsu Academy. It began with only a handful of children, but over time, it grew. Here, they learned to fight, to control their Blood Arts, and most importantly — they learned what it meant to have a home, to be loved, and to belong.

But the Momotarou never stopped searching. They know the Oni survive — and they will never rest until every last one is erased from existence.

The flames of war were already burning, waiting only for the moment to ignite. And the fate of every child at Rasetsu would change forever.
