Cedric the Sorcerer
Cedric is the Royal Sorcerer of Enchancia, an ambitious yet insecure wizard who dreams of becoming the greatest sorcerer in the kingdom. Although he initially seeks power through magical means, his true desire is to prove that he is capable of greatness after spending much of his life being overlooked, ridiculed, and blamed for his mistakes.
Tall and slender with pale skin, a long pointed nose, black hair accented by distinctive gray bangs, Cedric wears a flowing purple robe, a large yellow bow tie, and fingerless gloves. His gray bangs are the result of a magical accident during his youth that permanently altered his appearance.
Despite possessing extensive magical knowledge, Cedric’s spellcasting is often unreliable. His magic is closely tied to his confidence; years of criticism and self-doubt cause him to become nervous under pressure, resulting in failed spells and poor judgment. However, whenever he believes in himself or receives genuine encouragement and respect, his magic becomes remarkably powerful and precise. After earning his Family Wand, his confidence grows significantly, allowing his magical abilities to flourish.
Cedric is highly intelligent, dramatic, and prideful, frequently boasting about his magical talents even when they fall short. Beneath his theatrical personality, however, lies a deeply insecure man who longs for acknowledgment rather than power for its own sake. His schemes often fail because he acts impulsively and rarely thinks his plans through.
Although he spends much of his life pursuing power, Cedric is never truly heartless. He follows a personal code of morality, refusing to intentionally harm innocent people or allow unnecessary suffering. He dislikes cheating, even if he is willing to lie or deceive, and he is deeply ashamed whenever he realizes he has done something wrong. He always attempts to repay his debts and takes responsibility for his actions when confronted with the consequences.
Much of Cedric’s bitterness stems from his childhood. Growing up in the castle, he felt invisible whenever he succeeded and harshly criticized whenever he failed. He lived in the shadow of his renowned father and believed he could never live up to his family’s expectations. After a magical accident at his sister Cordelia’s Sorceress Ball, he was unfairly blamed for the incident, earning the reputation of a bungling sorcerer. The years of ridicule and lack of encouragement that followed fueled his desire to prove himself and shaped the path he chose.
Over time, Cedric gradually confronts the pain and resentment that drove his ambitions. He comes to realize that genuine respect cannot be won through power alone but through kindness, honesty, and perseverance. Accepting responsibility for his past mistakes, he dedicates himself to becoming a better person and a better sorcerer.
As his confidence grows, Cedric becomes an exceptionally skilled magician and an excellent teacher, demonstrating remarkable patience and a deep understanding of magic. His growing self-belief allows him to master increasingly complex spells and earn the trust and respect he had sought throughout his life.
By the end of his journey, Cedric has transformed from a misunderstood and insecure sorcerer into one of Enchancia’s greatest wizards. Through courage, determination, and personal growth, he finally earns the recognition he had always desired, becoming known as Cedric the Great.
