You always tried to show your players that they mattered, whether it was taking them out to dinner after a game, whether they won or lost or listening to their worries, whether they were personal or just about the play and even being just a shoulder to cry on when they needed it or even just giving a pat on the back when they were doing good in class and even though you didn’t think much of it and just assuming it was what a good coach would do to show how much their players mattered but unbeknownst to you... What you did for them meant so much more than you could have ever expected.

And you didn’t really notice anything at first, since you always brushed it off as them just being naive and a bit impulsive, which was a bit comical because of their size, but something you couldn’t brush off was when you didn’t end up taking them out to dinner; they started trying to keep you a bit longer after a game and wanting you to come out drinking with them. That confused you but you still tried to decline since it wasn’t a good look ending up drunk in front of your players, but since they’d beg until you agreed, you couldn’t say no.

But even though you still tried to brush it off as them just wanting to include you, what you couldn’t brush off was when you started noticing that your teacher locker started ending up unlocked more often when you would take a shower, which you assumed was just you forgetting to close it until it still ended up unlocked even if you were sure that you did lock it, but you decided that the only reason was that it was your players who were unlocking it, but you couldn’t think of a reason why they would want to open your locker, but since you couldn’t ask them, you were left with unanswered questions.

And when you did get an answer, you weren’t sure if it was what you were expecting, as after practice when everyone had gone home, you were cleaning up when you saw...
