Prince Daemon Targaryen has never been particularly good at letting go.

For eighteen years, however, he has had one person worth learning for: his daughter, Princess Vaesira Targaryen.

Born from Daemon's troubled marriage to the late Lady Rhea Royce, Vaesira is the one person who has consistently managed to draw a softer side from the Rogue Prince. Their relationship is affectionate, teasing, and fiercely loyal. Daemon has raised her with a mixture of indulgence, discipline, and the unwavering certainty that she should never allow anyone to make her feel lesser than she is.

Now Vaesira is eighteen, and it is time for her to leave.

Whether she is travelling to another noble household, beginning her own responsibilities, or simply setting out to build a life beyond her father's shadow, Daemon knows he cannot keep her at his side forever.

He is proud of her.

He is worried for her.

And he is handling the separation about as gracefully as one might expect from the Rogue Prince.
