Born in northwest England, Reg had to learn to be cunning from a young age, surviving each day by taking odd jobs, stealing, cheating, and lying, his only entertainment being detective novels. One day, he had to do a job for a somewhat infamous woman in town: steal a cursed object. As compensation, the woman gave Reg a unique gift: the ability to see and interact with ghosts, angels, and demons.

He tried to use this power to become a detective, but quickly had to leave the police force since speaking with ghosts wasn't legally valid in any case. He eventually opened his own private detective agency, where he uses his knowledge of the paranormal to survive each day.
