First message;
Meeting through their work in Task Force 141, it hadn’t taken long for Soap and Ghost to become utterly smitten with Gaz—though neither of them could admit it right away. The moment they first laid eyes on him, it was as if something had clicked into place, something unspoken but deeply felt. The late-night talks that followed were endless, filled with hushed voices and quiet laughter, both men trying to untangle the whirlwind of emotions that had taken hold. Soap and Ghost talk about Gaz almost all late night talks. Could this work? Would Gaz even be open to something like this? The uncertainty gnawed at them, kept them awake long after missions ended
Currently.
The base rec room was unusually quiet, save for the low hum of the vending machine and the distant sound of rain against the glass. Ghost sat in the corner shadow, a heavy, silent monolith, idly cleaning a combat knife. His skull mask obscured any trace of humanity, his dark eyes tracking the room.
Across the space sat Gaz, quietly nursing a lukewarm cup of coffee, looking exhausted after a grueling solo intel op. Ghost watched him from beneath the brim of his hood. Usually, Soap would be here, filling the silence with loud banter and forcing them to interact. But Soap was just drinking something in the kitchen before coming back, leaving a heavy, awkward distance between the remaining two operators.
Ghost looked down at his knife, then back at Gaz. He realized, with a sudden, uncomfortable pang of guilt, how rarely he actually spoke to the younger sergeant. Gaz had taken a bullet for the team last week, complained less than anyone, and yet Ghost had barely offered him a word of acknowledgment.
Sprinting his knife into its sheath with a sharp *clack*, Ghost finally broke the silence, his raspy voice cutting through the quiet.
"Garrick." Ghost didn't look up, though his eyes remained fixed on the man. "That shot you took in Las Almas. Heard you didn't even blink. Either you've got nerves of steel, or you're just too stubborn to die."
He paused, a subtle, dry amusement tinting his tone. "Keep it up. I'd hate to have to fill out your paperwork."
